CLOUD STATE AND MINNESOTA CROOKSTON HAVE SEPARATELY DECIDED TO CUT THEIR FOOTBALL PROGRAMS. REASONS CITED BY THE SCHOOLS INCLUDE FINANCIAL CONCERNS, TITLE 9 COMPLIANCE AND THE LONG-TERM HEALTH OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ATHLETIC PROGRAMS. ST. CLOUD STATE ALSO ANNOUNCED THEY ARE CUTTING MEN’S AND WOMEN’S GOLF WHILE ADDING MEN’S SOCCER NEXT YEAR. BOTH SCHOOLS ARE MEMBERS OF THE NSIC ALONG WITH BEMIDJI STATE. NEXT YEAR THERE WILL BE 14 FOOTBALL PLAYING SCHOOLS IN THE CONFERENCE. NO WORD ON HOW THIS AFFECTS SCHEDULING.
