Spiele den 3. Ball sicher – Tischtennis. How To Play Third Ball with confidence – Table Tennis.

Playing the third ball with confidence How do you continue after your sidespin serve? Without a plan? Just somehow? Or do you plan to win points with the third ball? As a server your goal is to win the point with the third ball, in case you didn’t achieve it directly with your serve. But be aware: If you don’t know the spin of the returning-ball, then the ball could jump from the racket in an unexpected direction. In this video I will show in 3D how the spin of the returning can be tricky how you avoid mistakes with the third ball and how to play the third ball with confidence Now the situation in slow motion You make a forehand serve with a side spin The opponent holds the racket angled and does not give the ball any (own) spin. You will get your own serve-spin back. The ball will jump often to the right after contact with the table It’s very annoying, if you can’t reach the returning ball or you hit the third ball in an unexpected direction Avoid these 4 mistakes which are often made with the third ball by the server or double partner 1st mistake with the third ball You make a strong forehand sidespin serve The opponent holds the racket slightly angled to the baseline Thereby the spin direction changes during the ball contact. Your own side spin returns with an opposite spin direction into your backhand area Don’t hold the racket face uncontrolled in a vertical/upright position, because then the spin will change again on your racket towards the opposite direction and the third ball will jump to the left 2nd mistake with the third ball Don’t hold the racket face uncontrolled in an open (light horizontal) position, because then the rotation doesn´t change the direction at the third ball, causing the ball to jump from your racket to the right My advice This is how you will avoid both mistakes: If you can’t attack the third ball and win points, then neutralize the return-spin Add a lot of spin to the ball, backspin or back-sidespin, so that your spin dominates strongly 3rd mistake with the third ball The opponent holds the racket very angled to the baseline The ball will fly far to your forehand corner Do not expect that the ball is flying always to your backhand corner. Be ready to jump very quickly, if the ball is flying far into the other corner. 4th mistake with the third ball The ball often jumps in the direction of your forehand corner after the table contact Do not misestimate the flight direction of the ball Pay attention where you should hit the third ball Recap: After your forehand sidespin serve you should pay attention to the following factors The return-ball often has your own serve-spin in the opposite spin direction The return ball mostly jumps from the table to the right In summary: How to play the third ball with confidence Don’t hold the racket face uncontrolled in a vertical/upright position Don’t hold the racket face uncontrolled in an open position If you cannot attack, give the third ball a lot of SPIN, so that your spin dominates Preferably play short and low, so that the opponent cannot attack Be ready to move in order to reach the third ball Follow exactly the flight direction of the ball, pay attention on where you should hit the third ball Have fun playing the spin! 1.

  6. Suggestion, after the 3D animation, you should show a real person doing it to see exactly how it is done by the real person. The 3D explains the details and the person will show that it will really work.
