Production’s Blog – Episode 2 – Why baseball bats with bigger barrels are more likely to break

Big barrel bats use low density logs or
lighter logs because of the size of the barrel. These bats offer a larger
hitting surface, but the wood is less compact. That’s why the CarGo5, B61 and
B243c models tend to be weaker because of the low density logs. They are
intended for bigger, stronger, and more experienced players. That’s why smaller
barrels use high density wood. They are more compact and therefore more
resistible to breakage. These bats are recommended for all types of players,
especially the younger, less-experienced ones. Examples of models using high
density logs are the B271, B141 and B110.
