Paulo Dybala Lists His Football Heroes ft. Messi & Riquelme | Legends on Legends

When I was a child, I tried
to imitate him in training sessions and do what he did
because he was incredible. Leo is an idol. I’ve had the chance to play against him. Obviously, I prefer him
as a teammate rather than a rival. What he does on the pitch
makes him an incredible player. I admire him very much. Since I was a child,
I’ve followed him and watched his games. And now, when I train with him,
I can see how he moves and how smart he is when finding spaces. For me, it’s really important
to have him close to learn from him. Andrea is the only player whose shirt I have framed in my house in Argentina because he’s one of the players
I have always admired. His class, the elegant way he plays… And when I came to Italy,
I appreciated his talent even more. But unfortunately, when I joined Juventus, he left and I couldn’t have
any sessions with him. Riquelme has been one of my idols
since I was a child. We used to watch a lot football at home. My father was a Boca Juniors fan. One of my brothers
was a fan of Independiente and the other one of River Plate. All of them tried to convince me
to support their favourite teams. And since we watched a lot of games,
I loved the way Riquelme played, the way he moved and the calmness
with which he did everything. So when I was a child, I tried
to imitate him in training sessions and do what he did
because he was incredible. The same goes for Ronaldinho. There is an intense rivalry
between Argentina and Brazil due to the games between both teams. But, anyway, I think many Argentinians
greatly admire Ronaldinho for his talent
and the joy he brings to the pitch. And also because
when Leo emerged as a great player… …they spent a lot of time together. That’s why Argentinians are fond of him. I played against Trezeguet
when I was with Instituto and he was back with River. Unfortunately, he scored
and we lost the game. You could see that he was a special player because of the way he moved,
the quality of his game, how smartly he moved
inside the penalty box. Now, I have the chance to speak
to him because he works for Juventus and he is usually around. I respect him a lot. I saw Karim at a game
between Barcelona and Real Madrid, when I was still playing for Palermo. If I remember correctly,
I think Barcelona won 2-1. But I was impressed
by the way he played… …his technique, his intelligence… At that time,
I didn’t follow him that much, but from that moment on,
I started to follow him because there are very few players –
in his position as a striker – who have such good technique.
