Northwood Allstars are heading to Southeast Regional Baseball Tournament

VISITED THEIR PRACTICE, AND FINDS THE TEAM COOL AND CONFIDENT. JOHN: THE NORTHWOOD 11 AND 12-YEAR-OLDS GO THROUGH THEIR FINAL FIELDING DRILLS, BEFORE HEADING TO WARNER ROBINS TO FACE OTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS IN THE SOUTHEAST. I FEEL PRETTY PUMPED. I THINK OUR TEAM IS ACTUALLY READY TO PLAY. I THINK THAT WE PLAY GOOD AS A TEAM, AND WHEN WE ARE DOWN, WE ALL COME BACK TOGETHER. JOHN: THE TEAM FROM TAYLORS SAILED THROUGH DISTRICTS AND THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE TOURNAMENT, WINNING ALL SIX OF THEIR GAMES. WE’RE PRETTY STRONG AT EVERYTHING. I’D SAY WE’RE A VERY GOOD HITTING TEAM, AND WE’VE GOT SOME STRONG PITCHING AND SOLID DEFENSE, SO, BUT IF I HAD TO PICK ONE, I’D PROBABLY SAY THE BATS ARE WHERE OUR STRENGTH IS. JOHN: BESIDES WORKING ON THEIR HITTING, BASE RUNNING, AND FIELDING, THE TEAM SPENT PART OF THEIR DAY WORKING OFF THE FIELD, TOO. WASHING CARS, MAKING $1,000 TO HELP PAY TRAVEL EXPENSES THAT QUICKLY ADD UP. A HOTEL ROOM EVERY NIGHT, MEALS EVERY NIGHT, AND SIBLINGS THAT GO, TOO. IT’S A BIG DEDICATION, BUT IT’S WORTH IT. THE BOYS HAVE WORKED REAL HARD. JOHN: WORK THE TEAM HOPES PAYS OFF, WITH WINS IN GEORGIA AND A TRIP TO THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES. IF YOU’RE NOT PLANNING TO WIN, WHAT’S THE POINT IN PLAYING?
