New Caney Boys Baseball Preview

The New Caney Eagles baseball team is getting
serious about this season. Last year they finished a bit short of the
playoffs and lost a number of seniors. But with a new coach and a new attitude, they
are ready for anything. “ We lost a lot, but we got a big senior
group, we got 8 seniors this year, and a lot of them with a lot of experience, that are
ready to step in and fill those roles, and I think they are going to do a great job at
it.” Coach Austin Hall is a true believer in the
game and his excitement seems to be rubbing off. “Even though this is my first year as head
coach, I have been here 5 years I have a good relationship with these guys, they kinda know
what I expect and I know what I am going to get out of them. I am really excited to work with them and
be with them their final year.” As the team works hard on fundamentals, they
rely on the coaches mentality to guide them to a winning season. “ I am a big believer in we’re going to
throw strikes and play good defense. I always say that my biggest complaint with
baseball is it is slow, and one word the kids hear me say all the time is Tempo. We’re going to get on the mound, throw strikes
and we’re going to play good defense behind our pitcher and get off the field so we can
go hit and score some runs.” Hall says Crosby, Barbers Hill, and Porter
are their main rivals this year, and his men are ready to play ball. The will face Crosby March 13 and 15th.
