Montgomery College Raptors Volleyball vs. Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks, 10/27/2016

♪ Intro ♪>>THEY NEED TO WORK ON GETTING
COMFORTABLE WITH THEIR NEW POSITIONS.
WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE GET MOVED AROUND AND BE PUSHED OUT
OF THEIR COMFORT ZONES. TONIGHT, WE WANT TO OWN OUR
POSITIONS AND BE AGGRESSIVE ON OFFENSE. MICHAEL:
I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE THE RAPTORS PLAY LAST WEEKEND
AGAINST A VERY GOOD COMMUNITY COLLEGE , A RHODE ISLAND TEEN.
ABOUT THEY LOOKED PRETTY GOOD. IT LOOKED LIKE THE PLAYERS WERE
ADAPTING TO THEIR NEW ROLES PRETTY QUICKLY WHICH THEY NEED
TO WITH THE POSTSEASON UPON US. AND AS YOU AND I KNOW, IT’S A
DIFFERENT ANIMAL ALTOGETHER. AND COACH KENNO AND I TALKED
ABOUT THAT TOO, I ASKED HER WHAT SHE’S BEEN TELLING HER PLAYERS
TO HELP THEM GET READY FOR THE PRESSURE OF THE POST SEASON.>>THEY HAVE TO PLAY AND NOT
FEEL THE PRESSURE. THEY NEED TO LEAVE IT ALL ON THE
COURT AND PLAY IT LIKE IT IS THEIR LAST.
IT COULD BE THEIR LAST GAME. THEY HAVE TO STEP UP TO THE
CHALLENGE BECAUSE THE GAMES BEFORE THIS DID NOT MATTER FROM
HERE — AS THEY DO FROM HERE ON FORWARD.
MICHAEL: WELL, MARCUS, WHO BETTER THAN COACH KENNO TO
DELIVER THAT MESSAGE. I MEAN, SHE’S LIVED THIS AND NOT THAT
LONG AGO, JUST SIX YEARS AGO IN 2010 SHE WAS A FRESHMAN
VOLLEYBALL STAR RIGHT HERE AT MC GETTING READY FOR HER FIRST POST
SEASON. MARCUS: AND THAT TEAM MADE IT
ALL THE WAY TO NATIONALS WHEN SHE WAS A FRESHMAN. BUT IF THE
RAPTORS ARE GOING FOLLOW SUIT AND GO DEEP IN THE POST SEASON,
THEY ARE GOING TO NEED A STRONG SERVICE LINE GAME AND GET SOME
SERIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THEIR YOUNG PLAYERS. LIKE NICOLE RIOS.
AND THEN ALSO FROM CAITLIN WINANS.
AND THEN THEY NEED SOME TAKES FROM ALEXANDRA OR HAVE.
— BORJA. MICHAEL: BUT MARCUS, AS WE WELL
KNOW AROUND HERE, THE POST SEASON CAN BE VERY
UNPREDICTABLE. YOU AND I WELL REMEMBER THE 2014 MC TEAM THAT
NO ONE GAVE MUCH OF A CHANCE IN THE POST SEASON.
MARCUS: ALL THEY DID WAS FACE WIN OR GO HOME MATCHES THE REST
OF THE WAY. AND WHAT DID THEY DO — THEY WON
THE REGION AND THE DISTRICT AND THEN THEY FINISHED EIGHTH IN THE
COUNTRY. WE SAY THIS ALL OF THE TIME, YOU
NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE POSTSEASON AND THIS IS NO
DIFFERENT. IF THE RAPTORS GET HEALTHY, I
DON’T THINK ANYONE WOULD BE SURPRISED IF THEY HAD A RUN COME
POSTSEASON TIME. MICHAEL: AND AGAIN IT ALL
STARTS TOMORROW. THE RAPTORS WILL TRAVEL TO ANNE
ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE FINALS START SATURDAY AT
NOON AND THEN THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP IS SUNDAY AT 11:00.
WE DON’T WANT TO PUT THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MATCH FOR THESE TEAMS.
AS WE HAVE BEEN SAYING REGARDING THE POSTSEASON, THIS IS THEIR
LAST CHANCE TO FINE-TUNE THINGS. I THINK THE RAPTORS WILL HAVE
THEIR HANDS FULL TONIGHT. THEY ARE A MORE EXPERIENCED TEAM
, A TALLER TEAM, AND THEY HAVE AN IMPOSING FRONT TEAM.
MARCUS: THE NIGHTHAWKS COME IN AT 9-17 BUT DO NOT BE FULL OF BY
THEIR RECORD. THEY HAVE A PRETTY AWESOME
PLAYER IN THEIR SOPHOMORE, JULES BEEN A. — JEWELS BENNETTE.
SHE SET THE RECORD FOR NORTH — KILLS. THE SIZE IS
GOING TO BE KEYED TONIGHT AGAINST THIS MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE TEAM. THE RAPTORS ARE GOING TO HAVE
THEIR HANDS FULL. MICHAEL: AND IT IS A BIT OF A
RIVALRY GAME TONIGHT. THE SCHOOLS ARE SEPARATED ONLY
BY THE POTOMAC RIVER WHICH ADDS A LITTLE SPICE AS WELL.
WE ARE JUST ABOUT SET TO GET UNDERWAY. STICK WITH US.
WE ABOUT TO START THE MATCH. MICHAEL: WELCOME BACK TO THE
ROCKLAND CAMPUS AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
WE ARE ALL SET TO GET UNDERWAY. NORTHERN VIRGINIA WILL BE
SERVING THE BALL, NUMBER 15 WILL BE SERVING FOR THE NIGHTHAWKS.
SIMONE JENKINS. WE ARE UNDERWAY HERE ON THE
ROCKLAND CAMPUS OF MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
THE FIRST POINT OF THE MATCH GOES TO NORTHERN VIRGINIA.
MARCUS: LET US JUMP INTO THE COACHING STAFF.
MARCUS ROBINSON IS IN HIS 10TH YEAR AT NORTHERN VIRGINIA.
AND HIS ASSISTANT IS FLOYD PIER. MICHAEL: AND TORI KENNO IS THE
HEAD COACH AND HER ASSISTANT IS DAN SMITH.
DIANE BURNS AND SHERRY MORGAN ARE OUR REFEREES.
MARCUS: LET US PLAY SOME VOLLEYBALL.
MICHAEL: NICE BLOCK THERE. WE ARE ALL TIED UP AT ONE.
CRISTIANO WILHELM-GLAB IS GOING TO BE GOING TO THE SERVICE LINE
FOR THE RAPTORS. SHE IS NUMBER TWO ON THE TEAM IN
SERVICE ACES. I AM SORRY, SHE IS NUMBER ONE,
TIED FOR NUMBER ONE WITH NICOLE RIOS. AND ATTEMPTED TAKE THEIR
EYE LILLY MILLER. LET US SET UP THE RAPTORS FOR
YOU. CRISTIANO WILHELM-GLAB. LILLY MILLER. PAM THE CONDO.
NICOLE RIOS. AUDREY DIPOKO. AND NUMBER ONE, MARLENE MORALES.
MARCUS: AND AS WE JUST ALL, BENNET TE HAS HER FIRST SCALE
OF THE NIGHT. MICHAEL: WE SPOKE ABOUT HER IN
THE PREGAME. MORALES. WITH THE SET. DIPOKO.
AND THERE IS A GOOD LOOK AT BENNETTE WHO WE SPOKE ABOUT
DURING THE PREGAME. THE REST OF THE STARTERS FOR
NORTHERN VIRGINIA ARE MCKINLEE HOUGHLAND, SARAH HALVERSON.
THERE IS A GOOD LOOK AT NICOLE RIOS FOR THE RAPTORS.
NUMBER FIVE, COLLEEN LAMOREAUX. SIMONE JENKINS. CAITLIN RILEY.
HALVERSON AND ALEXIS FIELDS. MARCUS: LOOKING DOWN THE ROSTER,
ADEN A SUFFER — ASEFA , SHE IS AT 120 FOUR KILLS — FOR KILLS
BUT I DO NOT SEE HER TONIGHT. MICHAEL: I WAS TOLD PREGAME AND
I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT SHE IS OUT WITH AN ANKLE INJURY.
MARCUS: AND I SEE HER ON THE BENCH.
MICHAEL: ANGLES CAN BE A BIG PROBLEM IN VOLLEYBALL.
A LOT OF TIMES, A PLAYER WILL GO UP IN A CROWDED SITUATION AND
COME DOWN ON SOMEONE ELSE’S ANKLE OR FOOT AND TURN THEIR
ANGLE. SO, THE RAPTORS ARE QUICKLY OUT
IN FRONT. THE FIRST SET. MARCUS: THEY HAVE THE BEST
SERVER ON THE TEAM. NICOLE RIOS HAS RUN UP A COUPLE
OF QUICK POINTS. MICHAEL: WE JUST GOT WORD FROM
OUR STATISTICIAN EVAN BROWN THAT THE ALL-STAR CENTER FOR NORTHERN
VIRGINIA, JENNY TRAN IS NOT — DID NOT MAKE THE TRIP TONIGHT.
SHE IS OUT WITH THE FLU. THAT IS A BIG LOSS FOR NORTHERN
VIRGINIA. SHE HAD 44 ASSISTS. IN THEIR MATCH LAST WEEK AGAINST
HARTFORD. MARCUS: I AM SURE THAT WAS
SETTING UP JEWEL A LOT FOR HER 22 KILLS IN THAT MATCH.
MICHAEL: BOTH OF THEM SET SCHOOL RECORDS THAT NIGHT.
MARCUS: THAT IS A HUGE DEAL FOR BENNETTE .
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR TABLE SETTER, YOU WILL NOT GET AS MANY
KILLS. AT IS A HUGE DEAL FOR THE RAPTORS.
MICHAEL: THAT IS A POINT FOR NOVA. SO,
I KNOW IT HAS BEEN A BIT OF A HECTIC BEGINNING. WE
WILL TRY TO IDENTIFY WHO WILL BE THE PRIMARY SETTER FOR NOVA.
THERE IS A GOOD, HARD SERVE BY LAMOREAUX AND IT FALLS IN THE
CAMPFIRE. EVERYONE LOOKING AT IT.
MARCUS: WE GOT CAMPFIRE IN EARLY, MICHAEL. [LAUGHTER]
NICE, HARD SERVE. MICHAEL: LAMOREAUX, WITH A NICE
SERVE. THERE IS DIPOKO. CURIOUS TO SEE HOW MUCH DIPOKO
AND NGANDO CAN PLAY TONIGHT. NGANDO ESPECIALLY.
SHE JUST HURT HER ANKLE LAST WEEK. IT HAS ONLY BEEN A WEEK.
AND IT WAS THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL THEY SAID WHEN IT FIRST
HAPPENED . LAST THURSDAY IN PRACTICE, SHE
CAME DOWN ON SOMEONE’S FOOT LIKE WE WERE TALKING ABOUT.
LAMOREAUX, WITH A NICE RUN ON THE SERVICE LINE.
THERE IS DIPOKO. MILLER WITH THE DIG OFF THE
ATTACK. GOT RUBY BARRANCO IN NOW FOR THE RAPTORS.
SHE JUST GOT TO THAT ONE BUT HOW IT GOES. NOVA WITH A NICE RUN.
THE RAPTORS HAD A 5-2 LEAD AT ONE POINT BUT IT IS NOW 8-5 AND
IT HAS ALL COME WITH COLLEEN LAMOREAUX ON THE SERVICE LINE.
BUT SHE PUTS THAT ONE INTO THE NET.
MARCUS: WITH TEAMS THAT ARE SO EVENLY MATCHED AND THEIR BIG
ASSIST PERSON AND AND SEES — AND MCINJURIES’ ON THE FRONT
LINE, THE SERVICE GAMES THAT ON THE BACK LINE, THAT IS SOMETHING
YOU REALLY NEED. MICHAEL: LILLY MILLER IS ON THE
LINE RIGHT NOW FOR THE RAPTORS. SHE IS A GOOD SERVER ALSO.
NUMBER TWO ON THE TEAM. I JUST JINXED HER.
SHE HIT IT OUT OF BOUNDS. BUT SHE IS SECOND ON THE TEAM IN
SERVICE ACES WITH 17. THAT PUTS JEWELS ON THE LINE.
MARCUS: SHE HAS 38 ACES MICHAEL: THIS SEASON.
THAT — WHICH IS MORE THAN ANYONE.
MICHAEL: THAT IS A NICE DUMP BY NGANDO AND RAPTORS CUT IT TO 9-A
WE HAVE MARLEE MORALES ON THE LINE.
SHE IS A FRESHMAN FROM EINSTEIN HIGH SCHOOL.
HER SERVE GOES LONG. THAT WILL PUT NUMBER 16, CAITLIN
RILEY ON THE SERVICE LINE NOW. NOVA HAS A LOT OF BASKETBALL
PLAYERS ON THEIR TEAM. ON THEIR VOLLEYBALL TEAM.
CAITLIN RILEY IS ONE OF THEM. ALSO, NUMBER 12, SHEILA CHERYL
WHO IS IN THERE RIGHT NOW IS ALSO ON THE NOVA BASKETBALL
TEAM. MARCUS: THIS IS THE FIRST TIME
IN A COUPLE OF YEARS THAT WE WILL NOT SEE ANY RAPTOR
BASKETBALL PLAYERS ON THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM.
WE HAVE IN THE PAST. MICHAEL: IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON
COMBINATION BECAUSE OF THE HEIGHT. A NICE SET
THEIR BY THE RAPTORS. — A NICE SET THERE BY THE
RAPTORS. HERE IS PAM NAGANO. MARCUS: 75 KILLS COMING INTO
TODAY’S MATCH. MICHAEL: LEADS THE TEAM IN THAT
CATEGORY. AND ACTUALLY, SHE FILLS UP THE
STATS SHEET ACROSS THE BOARD. SECOND AND EGGS. — SECOND IN
DIGS AND KILLS HER SET — PER SET.
AND MORALES AND SHE GETS IT TO GO. MARCUS:
COLLEEN MORALES GETTING UP THERE.
MICHAEL: SHE IS NOT PARTICULARLY TALL. 5’5″.
WHAT SHE GOT UP THERE. THE POOL THE –N POVA IS FROM
SLOVAKIA. YOU GET A GOOD LOOK AT NIKOLA
KNAPOVA. WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL AT BILIKO VA BRATISLAVA.
MARCUS: EASY FOR YOU TO SAY. [LAUGHTER] MICHAEL: 99
KILLS COMING INTO THE MATCH. SHE IS A GOOD SERVER AS WELL.
BOTH TEAMS ARE A LITTLE UNDER THE WEATHER TONIGHT.
LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON. THAT PUTS CAITLIN WINANS NOW ON
THE SERVICE LINE FOR THE RAPTORS . WE ARE ALL TIED UP AT 12.
SHE HAS BEEN A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TEAM THIS YEAR.
MARCUS: THEY ARE GOING TO COUNT ON SOME OF THESE FRESHMAN GOING
INTO THE POSTSEASON THIS WEEKEND.
MICHAEL: SHE WILL BE ONE OF THEM FOR SURE.
BEN NETTE WITH THE SET. IT LOOKS LIKE BENNETTE IS GOING
TO DO A LOT OF THE SETTING TONIGHT FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA.
MARCUS: IF YOU LOOK AT THE STAT LINE AND WE LOOK AT MARLENE
MORALES’ CHANG EUP — LOOK AT THE
STAT LINE, SETTING UP HER PLAYERS, EVEN THOUGH SHE IS THE
BEST DIG PLAYER ON THE TEAM, SHE HAS DONE PRETTY WELL.
MICHAEL: SHE HAS 50 ASSIST THIS YEAR.
SECOND ON THE TEAM BEHIND JENNY TRAN WHO IS OUT WITH THE FLU.
YOUR NUMBER ONE HITTER IS SECOND IN ASSISTS .
THAT IS AN ALL AROUND GAME FOR SURE. MARCUS: NICE SERVE.
MICHAEL: TOUGH SERVE. NICE DIG. RIOS, A LITTLE LONG.
NICE DIG THEREBY MARLEE MORALES. NOVA LEADING IN THE FIRST SET.
IT IS BEST OUT OF THREE. WIN BY TWO. BORJA.
AND SHE GETS IT OVER. DIGG’S IT — DIGS IT.
NICE SAFE BY GLAB. THAT WILL BE FOUR HITS AND A .4
NOVA. — AND A POINT FOR NOVA. MARCUS: I AM NOT SURPRISED TO
SEE 15-13 AT THIS POINT. WE HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN HOW
EVENLY MATCHED THEY ARE. MICHAEL: I THINK WE ARE IN FOR
FOUR SETS MINIMUM. NICE BLOCK FOR A POINT.
MARCUS: NICE SET TO RIOS FOR THE HIT BUT SHE PUT IT DOWN IN THE
NET TOO MUCH. MICHAEL: LAMOREAUX WAS THERE FOR
THE BLOCK. HARD SERVE. GLA B GETS IT OVER.
MARCUS: SIMONE JENKINS IS REALLY PUTTING THE FASTBALL DOWN ON HER
SERVE RIGHT NOW. MICHAEL: 16-14. KRISTI HANNAH WILHELM-GLAB ON
THE — CRISTIANO WILHELM-GLAB ON THE SERVICE LINES AGAIN.
SHE PUTS IT INTO THE NET. THAT IS THE KIND OF THING A
COACH HATES TO SEE, THAT UNFORCED ERROR.
PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU GET THE BALL. MARCUS: 216 ASSISTS
FOR GL AB. AND THE SECOND MOST WOULD BE
ALEXANDRA BORJA WITH 34. YOU KNOW WHERE THE OFFENSE
BASICALLY BEGINS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO HIT THE BALL
AND YOU ARE MONTGOMERY COLLEGE, IT IS CHRISTIANA. MARCUS: —
MICHAEL: THAT PUTS RUBY BARRETO ON THE LINE. GISELLE “RUBY”
BARRETO ON THE LINE. AND THAT PUTS LAMOREAUX BACK ON
THE LINE. SHE HAD A NICE RUN EARLIER.
AND SHE PUT IT INSIDE THE CORNER. THAT WAS A TOUGH SPOT.
AND THERE IS A TIME OUT ON THE FLOOR.
WE ARE GOING TO TAKE A REAL QUICK BREAK.
WE WILL BE RIGHT BACK WITH THE FIRST SET.
YOU ARE WATCHING MONTGOMERY COUNTY VOLLEYBALL ON MC TV.
MICHAEL: WELCOME BACK. WE ARE IN THE FIRST SET.
THE RAPTORS ARE TRAILING, 19-15 WITH COLLEEN LAMBRO ON THE
SERVICE LIFE. HER SERVE THOSE WAY LONG.
MARCUS: I WAS GOING TO SAY THAT THEY MAY BE IN A LITTLE BIT OF
TROUBLE. THAT SERVE WAY DOWN AT THE BACK
LINE. THAT IS AN ERROR. MICHAEL: HERE IS LILLY MILLER.
AND THAT –MARCUS: RIGHT ON THE LINE.
MICHAEL: ANY PART OF THE BALL THAT TOUCHES THE LINE, THAT IS
CONSIDERED IN. EVEN JUST BY A HAIR.
THAT PUTS TOOLS BEEN A — JEWELS BONNET TE ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: BIG HIT FOR CAITLIN RILEY. MICHAEL: NICE DIG.
MARCUS: MILLER. GREAT JOB. MICHAEL: GOOD HUSTLE. GLAB.
HERE COMES WINANS. THEY HAVE TO GET IT OVER.
MARCUS: GOOD COMMUNICATION BY THE NIGHTHAWKS, THERE.
MICHAEL: GOOD DEEP BALL FROM NGANDO. THERE WAS A DOUBLE HIT.
THOSE ARE TOUGH TO SEE BUT YOU COULD SEE THAT ONE.
20-17 PUTS ARLENE MORALES BACK ON THE SERVICE LINE FOR THE
RAPTORS. — MARLEE MORALES BACK ON THE
SERVICE LINE FOR THE RAPTORS. THAT IS A .4 NORTHERN — THAT IS
A POINT FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA. 20-17, AT FIRST SET.
BEST OUT OF A FIVE SET OR MAP. — BEST OUT OF A FIVE SET
FORMAT. THEY HAVE TO GET IT OVER.
THEY DO. HERE COMES THE SETS. NICE DAY BY LILLY MILLER.
LEADS THE TEAM IN THAT CATEGORY. HERE COMES THE SET FOR NGANDO.
WITH THE BAD ANKLE. I AM WONDERING — AND IT IS IN.
MARCUS: NICE SET AGAIN AT THE NET BY THEIR BIG HITTER,
BENNETTE. BACKS IT RIGHT ON THE LINE.
NICE CALL ON THE BACK. GREAT REPLAY BY OUR MC CREW.
MICHAEL: I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE CALL WAS ON THAT ONE.
COULD HAVE BEEN A PLAYER OUT OF POSITION.
I THINK THAT WAS THE CALL. SO, CAITLIN RILEY ON THE LINE
AND SHE GOES LONG. MARCUS: BIG BREAK FOR THE
RAPTORS. MICHAEL: 23-18. MARCUS: AND YOU PUT NGANDO BACK
THERE. MICHAEL: SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST
SERVERS ON THE TEAM. MARCUS: AND SHE WENT LONG.
WE ARE SETTING THEM UP PRETTY GOOD, MICHAEL.
MICHAEL: WE ARE JINXING THEM LEFT AND RIGHT. [LAUGHTER]
THAT PUTS SARAH HALVERSON ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: SHE IS SERVING FOR THIS SET. NICE SERVE.
MICHAEL: THIS WOULD BE SET POINT.
MARCUS: GREAT HIT BY MORALES. MICHAEL: RAPTORS STILL ON.
MARCUS: BIG-TIME HIT FROM WAY BACK.
YOU MENTIONED THAT SHE IS ONLY 5’5″ IN THE BOOKS, BUT SHE HEADS
IT HARD. MICHAEL: HERE COMES CAITLIN
WINANS NOW. AND THERE IS A POINT.
NOT SURE AGAIN WHAT THE CALL WAS. MARCUS: I THINK THAT IS THE
SECOND TIME THAT JEWELS MAY HAVE BEEN INTO THE NET BEFORE THE
SERVE. MICHAEL: THAT IS AN INTERFERENCE
CALL. THAT PUTS WINANS BACK UP THERE. JUMP SERVE.
MARCUS: NICE SERVE. MICHAEL: A REALLY GOOD WHEN.
HERE COMES THE SET. SHE HAS TO PLAY IT.
AND THAT WILL GIVE THE FIRST SET TO NORTHERN VIRGINIA.
THEY TAKE IT, 25-20. AND WHILE WE HAVE A BREAK IN THE
ACTION, LET US TALK SOME WOMEN’S SOCCER. BECAUSE THE ENZI RAPTORS
ARE HAVING A SUPERB SEASON. MARCUS: THEY ARE HAVING A
FANTASTIC SEASON. LITTLE BIT OF A SURPRISE THAT
THEY ARE THE NUMBER TWO RANKED TEAM IN THE COUNTRY.
THEY FINISH OF THE REGULAR — THEY FINISHED UP THE REGULAR
SEASON LAST WEEK WITH THE TITLE. SECOND IN THE NATION.
BEATING NUMBER NINE HOW WORD AND BROOKDALE — HOW WO ARD AND
BROOKDALE. JAMIE MONTGOMERY. 24 TOTAL GOALS TIES HER FOR
EIGHTH IN JUST 11 GAMES. NATALIE HAS 27 ASSESS —
ASSISTS. THIS OFFENSE IS PROLIFIC FOR THE
RAPTORS. THEY HAVE OUTSCORED THEIR
OPPONENTS, 83-NINE. MICHAEL: THEY BEGIN THEIR
POSTSEASON TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THEY PLAY UP IN HOWARD COMMUNITY
COLLEGE. THEY HAVE THEIR GAME AT 12:00.
THEY ARE PLAYING THE NUMBER FOUR SEED, ANNE ARUNDEL WHO THEY BEAT
JUST ABOUT A WEEK AND HALF AGO, 6-1.
YOU HAVE TO LIKE THEIR CHANCES FOR MAKING THE REGIONAL FINALS.
A TERRIFIC SEASON FOR THE HEAD COACH AND HIS RAPTORS.
AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE SUNDAY ALSO AT HOWARD
COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT 2:00 P.M. MARCUS: ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN
SPORTS. WE SPOKE ABOUT THAT IN THE OPEN,
WHAT FOR THE RAPTORS TO NOT ADVANCE TO THAT CHAMPIONSHIP AND
TO NOT WIN WOULD BE A HUGE UPSET.
MICHAEL: THE WAY THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING, I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE
WITH YOU. THEY ARE A TERRIFIC TEAM.
THE CHEMISTRY IS OUTSTANDING. AND THE COACH AND THE COACHING
STAFF HAVE DONE A MARVELOUS JOB. WE ARE BACK TO ACTION.
WE GOT A GREAT LOOK THERE FROM — OF TORI KENNO, FIRST-YEAR
HEAD COACH FOR THE RAPTORS. AND ALSO THE FORMER VOLLEYBALL
STAR AND SOFTBALL STAR. AND SHE IS DOING SOME COACHING
THERE IN THE HUDDLE. MARCUS: THERE WAS SOME MISTAKES
THAT THE RAPTORS MADE IN THE FIRST SET. THEY PLAYED HARD.
WE TALKED ABOUT HOW EVENLY MATCHED THIS WOULD BE BUT THERE
WERE SOME UNFORCED ERRORS AND SOME COMMUNICATION LAPSES.
AND WE HAVE GOT SOME STATISTICS TO GO OVER FROM OUR MAN, EVAN
BROWN. MICHAEL: ONE BIG ONE IS SERVICE
ERRORS. THE RAPTORS HAD SEVEN VERSUS
FOUR FOR NOVA. MARCUS: WE TALK ABOUT THE
IMPORTANCE OF THE SERVICE GAME ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE
HUGE HITTERS, YOU REALLY HAVE TO SERVE WELL.
MICHAEL: KILLS ARE JUST ABOUT EVEN. ATTACKS, IN OVER WITH THE
LEAD THERE, 33-29. PRETTY EVEN FIRST SET BUT NO BUT
TAKES IT, 25-20. AND THAT PUTS — WE ARE ALL SET
TO START THE SECOND SET. AND WILHELM-GLAB WITH THE SERVE.
AND CAITLIN RILEY WITH A BIG HIT.
THAT WILL BE A POINT FOR NOVA. — CAITLIN RILEY HAS BEEN THE
PRIMARY HEADER TONIGHT FOR AN OVER — FOR NOVA.
MARCUS: AND WITH BENNETTE SETTING UP IN THE MIDDLE.
MICHAEL: LAMOREAUX WITH THE SERVE. GLAB WITH THE SET.
MORALES FINDS A HOLE IN THE DOUGHNUT. MARCUS:
THAT WAS A SMART PLAY BY MORALES. MICHAEL: CAUGHT THEM BY
SURPRISE. I THINK THEY THOUGHT THERE
WOULD BE A ANOTHER HIT AND SHE SURPRISED THEM.
NICOLE RIOS ON THE SERVICE LINE. BARRETO WITH THE JERSEY ON FOR
MONTGOMERY COLLEGE. NUMBER SIX. MARCUS: GOOD EFFORT BY ALEXIS
FIELD. MICHAEL: IN CASE PEOPLE ARE NOT
FAMILIAR, THEY ARE A DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST AND THEY WEAR A
DIFFERENT COLORED JERSEY. MARCUS: EVAN BROWN — WE CAUGHT
YOU ON CAMERA FLINCHING. [LAUGHTER] MICHAEL: THAT TIME —
WOW, BIG-TIME BLOCK FROM AUDREY DIPOKO . WOW. LET US GET ANOTHER
LOOK AT THAT ONE. LOOK AT THAT TIME BLOCK BY
DIPOKO ON BENNETTE. MARCUS: PERFECT TIMING.
EXCELLENT PLACEMENT. MICHAEL: AND A BEAUTIFUL REPLAY
BY OUR CREW. MARCUS: WE SPOKE ABOUT THE
HEALTH OF DIPOKO AND THAT IS KEY TO ANY POSTSEASON HOPES FOR THE
RAPTORS. MICHAEL: THEY WOULD BE IN
TROUBLE. THEY ARE THE MOST EXPERIENCED
PLAYERS ON THE TEAM. MARCUS: AND THEY NEED GOOD
SERVICE FROM RIOS. AND A GREAT DAY.
— AND A GREAT DIG. MICHAEL: HERE COMES THE SETUP.
NGONDO ANDO, AND SHE GETS THE KILL.
WE DID NOT EXPECT HER TO PLAY TONIGHT.
IN THE PREGAME, WE HAD THAT SHE WAS NOT GOING TO PLAY.
MARCUS: GREAT HIT. RIGHT AT MCKINLEE HOUGHLAND WHO
COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITH IT. MICHAEL: SHE WAS CLEARED TO PLAY
IT RIGHT BEFORE THE GAME AND SHE IS IN THE LINEUP.
SHE WANTED TO PLAY HER FINAL HOME GAME AS A RAPTOR.
MARCUS: DIPOKO AGAIN WITH A BLOCK.
I LIKE THE LOOK TO THE REFEREE — WAS I TOO CLOSE TO THE NET?
AND SHE GOT THE POINT. MICHAEL: GREAT LOOK THERE AT
DIPOKO THROUGH THE NET. 6-1, RAPTORS.
THERE IS ANOTHER POINT FOR A DOUBLE HIT.
SO, THE RAPTORS NOW WITH A NICE LEAD .
THEY HAD AN EARLY LEAD IN THE EARLY SET AT 5-2 AND THEN NOVA
TOOK THE LEAD AT 6-5 AND DID NOT LOOK ACT AS THEY LET THE REST OF
THE WAY. MARCUS: NICOLE RIOS IS PILING UP
THE POINTS. MICHAEL: SHE HAS A NICE STREET
GOING — A NICE STREAK GOING HERE.
MARCUS: I THINK THEY GOT ANOTHER INTERFERENCE CALL.
MICHAEL: HERE IS ANOTHER GREAT LOOK AT THAT BLOCK FROM DIPOKO ,
SLOW MOTION. BEAUTIFULLY DONE. GREAT TIMING. PERFECT POSITION.
AGAINST A SUPERIOR HITTER IN JEWELS BENNETTE.
MARCUS: THAT IS ONE THAT THE FOUR YEAR WILL LOOK AT FOR
AUDREY DIPOKO. MICHAEL: AS ALEXIS FIELDS HITS
IT INTO THE NET. MARCUS: CAN’T GET NICOLE RIOS
OFF THE BACK LINE. MICHAEL: SHE IS ON A SUPER ROLE
HERE. THAT ONE GOES LONG. WE FINALLY JINXED HER.
[LAUGHTER] MARCUS: STICK WITH US.
MICHAEL: THE MAGIC TOUCH OF MICHAEL AND MARCUS. [LAUGHTER]
MARCUS: 9-2. EXCELLENT WAY TO ANSWER BACK TO
A TOUGH 25-20 SET ONE LOSS. MICHAEL: CAITLIN RILEY ON THE
SERVICE LINE. BARRETO. MARCUS: GOOD DIG FROM NGANDO.
MICHAEL: SHE GETS IT OVER DEEP, BUT TO DEEP — TOO DEEP.
CAITLIN RILEY. AND SHE IS GOING TO STAY ON THE
SERVICE LINE AS THEY CUT INTO THE LEAD. IT IS NOW 9-4.
MARCUS: SOPHOMORE FROM EDISON HIGH SCHOOL IN ALEXANDRIA,
VIRGINIA. MICHAEL: ON THE BASKETBALL TEAM.
WE MAY SEE HER LATER IN THE SEASON WHEN THE WRAP IS PLAYED
NOVA. — WHEN THE RAPTORS PLAY NOVA.
MARCUS: NORTHERN VIRGINIA HAS QUITE A CROP OF VERY COMPETITIVE
HIGH SCHOOLS TO CHOOSE FROM. YOU HAVE ANNANDALE, WOODBRIDGE,
PRINCEVILLE, BISHOP O’CONNELL. THOSE ARE BIG-TIME SPORTS AT
THESE NORTHERN VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOLS.
MICHAEL: THAT IS FOR SURE. THEY ALSO HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF
BEING A D- 2 PROGRAM. THEY CAN HELP THEIR ATHLETES
SOME. AS OPPOSED TO MONTGOMERY COLLEGE
WHERE WE CANNOT GIVE ANY SORT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AT ALL
BECAUSE WE ARE D-3 . MARCUS: FOR ATHLETICS.
MICHAEL: AND FIELDS HITS IT INTO THE NET. ARLENE MORALES
— MARLENE MORALES. RADIOLOGY MAJOR.
ON THE SERVICE LINE. PART OF THE RADIOLOGY PROGRAM
THAT IS SO STRONG AT THE COLLEGE.
THAT IS ANOTHER LONG HIT KEEPING MORALES ON THE SERVICE LINE.
AND SHE GOES LONG. THAT WAS REALLY CLOSE TO KISSING
THE LINE BUT IT DID NOT. MARCUS: SPEAKING OF THE HEALTH
SCIENCES PROGRAM, WE JUST SIGNED ANOTHER ARTICULATION PROGRAM
WITH TRINITY HOSPITAL. THAT WILL BEST THAT HELP — THAT
HELD SIGNS PROGRAM IS THROUGH MONTGOMERY AND THROUGH MARYLAND.
MICHAEL: ANOTHER POINT FOR THE RAPTORS. 13-6.
RAPTORS LEADING IN THE SECOND SET. THEY TRAIL THERE-ONE.
— 0-1. MARCUS: A GOOD SERVER ON THE
LINE, NGANDO. MICHAEL: NICE DAY. A MISS HIT. MARCUS:
THERE IS THAT COMMUNICATION THAT IS SO
IMPORTANT. IF THERE IS A BALL AMONG A
COUPLE PLAYERS, IT HAS TO BE GOOD COMMUNICATION, SPLIT
SECOND. CHRISTIANA AND MARLENE GOT TOO
CLOSE. I THINK MARLENE — MICHAEL: THAT PUTS SARAH
HALVERSON ON THE LINE. MARCUS: NICE DIG FROM MORALES.
MICHAEL: RILEY HITS IT INTO THE NET. A POINT FOR THE RAPTORS.
CAITLIN WINANS. DAMASCUS HIGH SCHOOL.
THAT IS UP IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS. MARCUS: IT SURE IS.
SPEAKING OF GOOD SPORTS SCHOOLS. EVERYONE LOOKS AT DAMASCUS FOR
FOOTBALL. BUT VOLLEYBALL WON THE STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP A FEW YEARS AGO. MICHAEL: THAT IS A POINT FOR
NOVA. THAT PUTS NIKOLA KNAPOVA ON THE
SERVICE LINE. THAT WAS A QUICK HIT FROM
LAMOREAUX WHO FOUND AN OPENING. AND WENT FOR THE POINT AND GOT
IT. MARCUS: LAMOREAUX HAS HAD A PRETTY GOOD MATCH SO FAR.
AS THE NIGHTHAWKS ARE TRYING TO GET BACK INTO THIS ONE, ONLY
DOWN 14-9. MOMENTUM IS SORT OF SWINGING
BACK TO NORTHERN VIRGINIA HERE. MICHAEL: RILEY HITS IT INTO THE
NET AGAIN. SO, THAT WILL PUT GLA B BACK ON THE SERVICE LINE.
TIED FOR THE TEAM LEAD IN SERVICE ACES WITH NICOLE RIOS.
MARCUS: NICE SPOT ON THAT SERVE. MICHAEL: THERE IS THE SET.
NICE SAVE THERE BY HOLLAND. MARCUS: THAT WAS A DOUBLE HIT
CALLED BY THE REFEREE. MICHAEL: 16-9, RAPTORS.
THEY HAVE LED THE ENTIRE SECOND SET. NICE DIG FROM BORJA . RIOS.
GLAB WITH THE SET. OR HALF — BORJA.
MARCUS: AND WE GOT A CALL FOR A DOUBLE HIT.
MICHAEL: THOSE ARE TOUGH FOR US TO DETECT.
WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OFFICIALS CALL MOST OF THE TIME.
MARCUS: LAMOREAUX WITH THE TOUGH SERVICE AGAIN.
MICHAEL: RAPTORS HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH HER TONIGHT.
NICE SAVE BY BARRETO. MARCUS: GREAT SAVE.
A GOOD POINT GOING ON HERE. MICHAEL: RIOS.
MARCUS: A LITTLE EARLY ON HER JUMP, I BELIEVE.
NOT THAT I COULD REALLY CRITICIZE ANYONE FOR JUMPING.
[LAUGHTER] MICHAEL: I HAVE ZERO HOPS MYSELF.
MARCUS: I THINK NICOLE WAS A LITTLE EARLY.
MICHAEL: LAMOREAUX — SHE IS VERY TALL AND SHE GETS A LOT OF
ACTION WHEN SHE DOES THAT. SHE HAS LONG ARMS.
MARCUS: AND THEY REALLY NEEDED HER LIFT FROM THE BACK LINE TO
GET THIS LEAD CUT DOWN. MICHAEL: SHE IS THE RIGHT PERSON
TO HAVE BACK THERE FROM ONCE — FROM WHAT WE HAVE SEEN SO FAR.
MARCUS: NICE DIG FROM FIELDS. MICHAEL: HERE COMES THE SET.
NICE POINT. MARCUS: SPEAKING OF TIMING ON
THE JUMP. MARLENE MORALES IS ONLY 5’5″ BUT
SHE TIMES HER JUMP AND HITS IT AT THE TOP OF HER HAND EVERY
TIME. THAT WAS A PRETTY HEADS. RIGHT INSIDE THE LINE.
MICHAEL: THAT PUTS RIOS BACK ON THE LINE. MARCUS: WHEN
YOU ARE HER SIZE, YOU HAVE TO MAXIMIZE YOUR
JUMPING ABILITY AND THE TOP OF THE HEAD. MICHAEL: NGA
NDO. NICE SAFE. IT GOES OUT. MARCUS: SMART FEET — SMART PLAY
BY ALEXIS FIELDS TO LET THAT GO OUT.
GIVE THE POINT TO THE NIGHTHAWK. MICHAEL: KILLS ARE EVEN RIGHT
NOW. YOU HAVE 11 FOR THE RAPTORS AND
10 FOUR NOVA. MARCUS: THIS IS NOT EVEN A KILL
MATCH. THAT IS A KILL. ON CUE. MICHAEL: WE JUST HAVE THAT MAGIC
TOUCH TONIGHT. THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT.
THIS MAKES SENSE GIVEN HOW THE SET IS GOING.
MARCUS: DIPOKO WAS SET UP THEREFORE A NICE KILL.
MICHAEL: BIG DIFFERENCE IS SERVICE ERRORS.
THESE ARE STATISTICS ACROSS BOTH SETS .
MARCUS: NICE PLAY THERE BY BENNETTE. ACROSS COURT.
THERE WAS NO RAPTOR THERE. MICHAEL: THAT PUTS JEWELS ON THE
LINE. RAPTORS HOLDING ONTO A FOUR
POINT LEAD. THEY WILL HAVE TO SAY THIS ONE.
BARRET O GETS IT OVER. MARCUS: NICE SAFE.
THEY ARE SET UP FOR A POINT HERE. MICHAEL: NGANDO.
THEY ARE NOW CUTTING INTO IT. AND THAT PUTS JEWELS BACK ON THE
SERVICE LINE. MARCUS: HER PREVIOUS SURVEY WAS
VERY HARD. MICHAEL: SHE HAS 38 ACES THIS
YEAR. MAKE THAT 39. MARCUS: LILLY MILLER GOT CAUGHT
IN NO MAN’S LAND. DO YOU LET IT GO?
MICHAEL: WHEN YOUR NUMBER ONE HITTER HAS 38 ACES, NUMBER THREE
ON THE TEAM, THAT IS IMPRESSIVE. SHE FLOATED THAT ONE OVER WITH
ZERO SPIN. THERE IS A BLOCK. MARCUS: I AM PRETTY SURE THAT I
WANT JEWELS ON MY FANTASY TEAM BECAUSE SHE HAD IT ALL THE WAY
DOWN THAT SERVICE LINE. MICHAEL: WE HAVE A TIMEOUT ON
THE FLOOR. LET US LOOK AT THAT REPLAY.
MARCUS: THAT WAS A GREAT BLOCK BY NUMBER 12, SHEILA CHERYL.
MICHAEL: WITH BASKETBALL — I AM SORRY, WITH VOLLEYBALL AND
SOCCER GOING INTO THE POSTSEASON, THAT CAN ONLY MEAN
THAT BASKETBALL SEASON IS READY TO TIP OFF.
I KNOW WE ARE PRETTY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.
THE MEN’S TEAM WON MARYLAND LAST YEAR WITH THE HEAD COACH’S FIRST
SEASON AND THIS YEAR’S TEAM LOOKS PRIMED TO REPEAT WITH SOME
EXCITING NEW RECRUITS. WITH PAT SMITH.
WE CAN SEE PAT THERE, NUMBER 20. WE WILL SEE HIM THERE AGAIN WITH
THE SLAM. THIS TEAM HAS A CONFERENCE TITLE
UNDER THEIR BELT BUT THEY HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS TO ATTEND TO
AND THE GOAL IS NJC NATIONALS. WE ARE BACK TO ACTION WITH
BENNET TE. WE WILL TALK WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
LATER IN THE SHOW. MARCUS: KEITH BYRD HAS BUILT A
PROGRAM IN ONE SEASON. MICHAEL: AND WE ARE EXCITED THIS
YEAR BECAUSE THE COACHES EXCITED.
THEY HAVE HAD BACK, THEY HAVE — THEY HAVE HAD BACK AND A AND A
HOST OF NEW RECRUITS. MARCUS: PATRICK SMITH AND JUWAN
WILL BE HARD TO TOP THIS YEAR. I AM INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT KIND
OF GUARDS THE COACHES BROUGHT IN. MICHAEL: THEY LOST D’ANGELO
VON , THEIR EXCITING SHOOTING GUARD
FROM LAST YEAR’S TEAM. MARCUS: THEY WILL HAVE TO FILL
SOME HOLES BUT IS ELSE LIKE HE IS MAKING HIS PLACE.
MICHAEL: THE LEAD FOR THE RAPTORS IS DOWN TO ONE.
THEY CAN ILL AFFORD TO DROP A SET HERE.
HERE IS LAMOREAUX WITH A BIG HIT A NICE BLOCK FROM WINANS.
MARCUS: EXCELLENT POINT. MICHAEL: WINANS WITH THE KILL
AND SHE MAKES IT. MARCUS: NICE HIT FOR WINANS.
THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE BACK. SHE HEADED IN THE PERFECT SPOT.
MICHAEL: THAT PUTS NGANDO ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: THAT IS A BIG HIT. THE NIGHTHAWKS WERE ON THE DOOR.
MICHAEL: THAT IS A REALLY BIG POINT.
MARCUS: AND YOU GIVE IT BACK TO AN EXCELLENT SERVER WITH NGANDO.
MICHAEL: AND DIPOKO WITH THE BACKCOURT KILL.
MARCUS: A NICE SHOT. MICHAEL: IT IS NOW BACK TO A
ONE-POINT LEAD FOR THE RAPTORS, 20-19.
HALVERSON ON THE SERVICE LINE. HERE COMES THE SET. BORJA.
MARCUS: DOUBLE HIT GIVES ANOTHER POINT TO THE RAPTORS.
MICHAEL: 21-19. MARCUS: THE FRESHMAN WINANS ON
THE BACK TO SERVE. MICHAEL: NICE POINT THERE WITH A
NICE MIS-HIT FROM KNAPOVA. THE RAPTORS ARE HOLDING ONTO A
THREE-POINT LEAD. LET US GO BACK AND DISCUSS
BASKETBALL. GOING BACK TO THE WOMEN’S TEAM.
MARCUS: THE HEAD COACH — TALKING ABOUT THE MEN’S TEAM
GOING TO NATIONALS. THE RAPTORS WOMEN’S TEAM UNDER
THEIR COACH IS BASICALLY A FIXTURE AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL.
SHE IS EXCITED ABOUT THIS YEAR’S TEAM.
SHE HAS A TIME OF NEW RECRUITS TO GO WITH TW RETURNERS.
SHE WILL HAVE A DEEPO BACKCOURT TO GO WITH A TALL ATHLETIC LINE.
SHE ONCE TO GET BACK TO THE NATIONAL PROMINENCE AS WE HAVE
SEEN THEM HAVE IN THE LAST DECADE.
MICHAEL: BOTH TEAMS WILL KICKOFF AT THE TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT NEXT
WEEKEND, NOVEMBER 5 AND SIX HERE AT ROCKVILLE.
A LOT OF BASKETBALL TO BE HAD THAT WEEKEND.
COME OUT AND SUPPORT BOTH THE MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM AND
WOMEN’S TEAM. IT KICKS OFF NEXT SATURDAY.
AND THE RAPTORS PUSHED THEIR LEAD TO FOUR, 23-19.
MARCUS: LET US SEE IF WINANS CAN SERVE OUT AND GET THIS NODDED AT
— KNOTTED A GOODA SERVE, ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK LINE. T ONE.
MICHAEL: NICE BLOCK THEIR. — SHE FOUND THE DOUGHNUT.
MARCUS: NOBODY HOME. MICHAEL: PERFECT PLACEMENT
THEREFORE ALEJANDRA BORJA. WINANS CAN NOW SERVE OUT THE
SET. HOUGHLAND. THERE IS THE SET.
DIPOKO TRIES TO THINK — DINK IT IN. THAT IS THE SET.
THE RAPTORS BOUNCED BACK TO TAKE THE SECOND SET AFTER DROPPING
THE FIRST. THEY TAKE THE SECOND SET, 25-19.
WHILE WE HAVE A BREAK AND THE ACTION, LET US TALK A LITTLE
MEN’S SOCCER. THEY START POSTSEASON PLAY
TOMORROW IN THE REGION 20 TOURNAMENT AT PRINCE GEORGE’S
COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE RAPTORS ARE RANKED NUMBER
10. THEY HAVE PLAYED PROBABLY THE
TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN THE COUNTRY THIS SEASON.
THEY PLAYED AT LEAST SIX NATIONAL TOP 10 TEAMS THIS
SEASON. A ARE A PRETTY YOUNG TEAM BUT
THEY ENTER THE POSTSEASON WITH A RECORD OF 12- 7-2.
THEY ENTERED THE TOURNAMENT AS THE NUMBER ONE SEED.
THEY WILL START TO DEFEND THEIR TITLE TOMORROW.
WHEN THEY TAKE ON THE WINNER OF TODAY’S MATCHUP.
THAT GAME OUGHT TO BE OVER. WE SHOULD SOON KNOW WHO THE
RAPTORS WILL PLAY TOMORROW IN THE SEMIFINALS.
MARCUS: IF THE RAPTORS WIN THAT WENT, THEY WILL BE IN THE FINALS
AT NOON ON SUNDAY, THE 30TH. ALL OF THE MEN’S REGION 20
TOURNAMENT WILL BE AT PRINCE GEORGE’S COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
GOOD LUCK TO THE HEAD COACH AND THE RAPTORS.
ANOTHER NATIONALLY PROMINENT TEAM AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
MICHAEL: BOTH SEPARATE TEAMS ARE SITTING IN THE TOP 10 RIGHT NOW.
NOT A LOT OF SCHOOLS CAN BOAST THAT. WE ARE EXCITED FOR THE
POSTSEASON. LET US TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF
THE STATISTICS THROUGH THE FIRST TWO SETS. KILLS ARE VERY EVEN.
RAPTORS, 14. 12, NOVA. HITTING PERCENTAGE , A LITTLE
BETTER FOR THE RAPTORS. SERVE ERRORS, RAPTORS WITH 10.
4, NOVA. DIG ARE DEAD EVEN AT 35 EACH.
NOVA WITH A ONE BLOCK ADVANTAGE. MARCUS: THE ONLY REAL DIFFERENCE
WOULD BE SERVICE ERRORS. 10 SERVICE ERRORS FOR THE
RAPTORS AND JUST FOUR FOR NOVA. IT IS VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL
OTHERWISE. MICHAEL: IT MATCHES UP VIRTUALLY
ACROSS THE BOARD. AND IT IS REFLECTED ON THE
SCOREBOARD. WE HAVE HAD TO CLOSE SETS.
— WE HAVE HAD TWO CLOSE SETS. MARCUS: WE ARE NOT RIGHT ABOUT A
LOT BUT WE WERE RIGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE AN EVENLY PLAYED MATCH.
MICHAEL: DIPOKO HAS PLAYED WELL. SHE HAS TWO HILLS AND NINE
ASSISTS. NGONDO, FOUR KILLS. JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, SHE
WAS ON CRUTCHES. BOTH INJURED SOPHOMORES PLAYING
REALLY WELL TONIGHT. MARCUS: THE FIRST POINT GOES TO
THE RAPTORS. SET THREE. MICHAEL: WE ARE OFF AND RUNNING.
DUST OUT OF FIVE. AT THIS POINT — BEST OUT OF
FIVE. AT THIS POINT, WE ARE GUARANTEED
FOUR SETS. LORETTO. COMES TO SET.
MORALES GETS IT OVER. AND ANOTHER POINT FOR THE
RAPTORS. IT WAS FOUR HITS THAT TIME FOR
NOVA. THREE IS THE LIMIT. MARCUS: WILHELM-GLAB LOOKING TO
GO UP 3-0 FROM THE SERVICE LINE. MICHAEL: WE ARE GOING TO CHECK,
GOING BACK TO MEN’S SOCCER, MAYBE WE CAN CHECK THE TWITTER
FEED. I JUST HEARD IN MY EAR FROM OUR
DIRECTOR SCOTT YOUNGBLOOD THAT NOVA, NORTHERN VIRGINIA BEAT
HOWARD MEANING THE RAPTORS WILL PLAY NOVA TOMORROW.
NOVA CAME OUT ON TOP OF HOWARD TODAY.
MONTGOMERY COLLEGE DID BEAT NOVA DURING THE REGULAR SEASON.
ANYTHING CAN HAVE — CAN HAPPEN IN THE POSTSEASON.
IT WAS A TIGHT MATCH THOUGH. MARCUS: THE MEN’S TURN IT, THE
MEN’S SEASON — IN THE REGION AND DISTRICT PLAY , HAS BEEN A
LOT CLOSER THAN THE WOMEN. LOOKING AT THE MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE WOMEN’S SCORES AND WE ARE TALKING 8-0, 10-1.
NOT THE SAME ON THE MEN’S SIDE. MICHAEL: THEY HAVE HAD SOME
TROUBLE SCORING BUT THEIR DEFENSE HAS BEEN STRONG.
AND YOU KNOW, THE OLD SAW IS THAT DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
SO WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. NICOLE RIOS WHO HAD A GREAT
SERVICE SET IN THE SECOND SET IS BACK ON THE LINE. SHE
GAVE MC A BIG LEAD IN THE SECOND SET.
AND THERE IS A MIS-HIT. MARCUS: NICE HIT BY RUBY BARRETO
BUT IT WAS FOR NAUGHT. MICHAEL: NOVA TOOK THE FIRST
SET, 25-20. RAPTORS CAME BACK TO TAKE THE
SECOND SET. WE ARE ALL KNOTTED AT ONE.
ALEXIS FIELDS WITH THE SERVE. FIELDS.
AND RAPTORS CANNOT GET IT OVER. I AM SORRY, IT WAS CAITLIN RILEY
ON THE SERVICE LINE. NOVA, WEARING PINK JERSEYS
TONIGHT. FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
MONTH. MARCUS: SMART PLAY BY THE NIGHTHAWKS, LETTING THAT BALL GO
LONG. MICHAEL: HERE COMES THE SET.
MORALES WITH A NICE CUT BUT IT DID NOT CLEAR.
MARCUS: SMART SERVING BY CAITLIN FIELDS — WERE OF CAITLIN RILEY
OF SERVING TO PAM NGONDO SO IT NEUTRALIZES ONE OF YOUR HITTERS.
YOU SERVE AT THE HITTER. MICHAEL: SHE HAS A NICE ROLLED
GOING HERE. MARCUS: YES SHE DOES.
MICHAEL: FOR SOME STRANGE REASON, SHE HAS TWO DIFFERENT
SHOES ON. ONE BLACK, ONE WHITE. MAYBE IT IS A
NICE SAVE THERE BY NGANDO. MARCUS: THAT WAS A NICE PLAY BY
NUMBER 12 OF THE NAUGHT HAWKES SHEILA SHERRILL WITH THAT
LITTLE LEFTY. MICHAEL: ANOTHER BASKETBALL
PLAYER. WE HAVE A TIME-OUT ON THE FLOOR.
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ONE. MARCUS: NICE EFFORT BY NGANDO.
MICHAEL: SO WE GET A GOOD LOOK AT THE NOVA BENCH THERE WITH
THEIR HEAD COACH, MARCUS ROBINSON.
HE STARTED THE PROGRAM AT NOVA ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO.
10 YEARS AGO. GOOD LOOK INSIDE THE RAPTOR
HUDDLE. GREAT LOOK AT AUDREY DIPOKO AND
PAM NGANDO THERE. MARCUS: IT’S GOOD TO SEE NOVA
AND M.C. REALLY STARTING TO GET THAT RIVALRY THAT WE’VE WANTED
AND NOT JUST VOLLEYBALL. NOT JUST BASKETBALL.
YOU KNOW, NOW WE’RE PLAYING IN SOCCER.
SO THAT’S REALLY SOMETHING, YOU KNOW, THAT M.C. AND NOVA, IT’S
GOING TO BE GOOD FOR BOTH SCHOOLS TO HAVE THIS RIVALRY.
MICHAEL: THE SOCCER RIVALRY IS QUITE VIBRANT.
I THINK TOMORROW’S MATCH BETWEEN THE M.C. MEN AND NOVA
MEN IS GOING TO BE, LAST YEAR IN THE REGIONAL FS THAT WAS A
TOUGH GAME FOR MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
I EXPECT NOTHING LESS TOMORROW. I’LL BE COVERING BOTH OF THOSE
GAMES FOR MC TV. BOTH THE MEN’S GAME AND THE
WOMEN’S GAME. HAVE TO DO A LITTLE SPEED RACER
ACTION IN BETWEEN THE TWO VENUES.
MARCUS: IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT YOU HAVE NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND
MONTGOMERY COUNTY. THAT IS JUST FRUITFUL
RECRUITING WHEN IT COMES TO SOCCER.
IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT. MICHAEL: NO.
TWO REALLY SERIOUS SOCCER HOT BEDS THERE.
OF COURSE THE M.S.I. PROGRAM IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY IS JUST HUGE.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO OUT TO SOCCER PLEX ON THE WEEKEND AND
IT’S UNBELIEVABLE. STEADY STREAM OF CARS IN AND
OUT OF THERE. GAMES ALL DAY LONG, ALL WEEKEND
LONG. AND THE SAME THING IN NORTHERN
VIRGINIA. MARCUS: I’VE GOT A 4-YEAR-OLD
IN SOCCER NOW. I THINK HE’S GOING TO PLAY THE
PICKUP CLOVERS AND LOOK AT THE SKY POSITION. [LAUGHTER]
IT’LL COME ALONG. HE’S ONLY 4. MICHAEL: PICK UP CLOVES AND
STARE AT THE SKY. MARCUS: THAT’S RIGHT.
WHEN MY KIDS PLAYED AT THAT AGE WE CALLED IT MAGNET BALL
BECAUSE WHEREVER THE BALL WENT ALL THE PLAYERS WENT TO IT.
ALL OF THEM. NOVA HAS EXTENDED THEIR LEAD TO
13-9 AS CRATE LYNN RILEY IS BECOMING A FIXTURE.
SHE’S BEEN THERE FOREVER. SO IT’S 14-4 AND THE RAPTORS
ARE REALLY HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SERVE/RECEIVE GAME RIGHT
NOW. MARCUS: GET SOME OF THOSE POINTS BACK. MICHAEL: 14-5.
AND AFTER TWO CLOSE SETS, THIS IS A BIT OF AN ABERRATION HERE.
WINANS, NICELY PLAYED. MARCUS: SET UP NICELY FROM
CHRISTIANA. PERFECT SET. PERFECT HIT.
RIGHT WHERE THEY WEREN’T. MICHAEL: THEY HAVE TO GET THIS
ONE OVER AND HOUGHLAND DOES. COMES THE SET. WINANS.
DOWN THE HOLE IN THE DEFENSE. MARCUS: SHE FLIPPED ON THE
APPROACH TO THE NET AND I THINK THAT HELPED HER PUT THE POINT
IN THE SPOT IT NEEDED TO GO. MICHAEL: GOING TO GET ANOTHER
LOOK AT THAT ONE. RIGHT IN THE CAMPFIRE.
MARCUS: NICE HIT FROM KNAPOVA. MICHAEL: A GREAT POINT HERE.
LOTS OF ACROBATIC. THAT POINT GOES TO NOVA AFTER A
VERY ENTERTAINING POINT THERE. MARCUS: JEWELS BONNETTE WANTED
TO END THAT. JUST KNOCKS IT DOWN OVER THE
NET. MICHAEL: 15-7. BONNETTE IS A SOPHOMORE.
MARCUS: GOOD SERVER, TOO. MICHAEL: THAT GOES OUT.
THE RAPTORS ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING TOUCH IN THIS SET.
IT’S 16-7. ONE OF THE BEST SERVERS ON THE
TEAM FOR NOVA ON THE LINE , NGANDO HAS IT BLOCKED RIGHT
BACK AND A POINT FOR — THERE’S THAT IMPOSING FRONT LINE,
MARCUS, THAT WE TALKED ABOUT IN THE FIRST, IN THE PREGAME.
MARCUS: YEAH. THE SIZE IS OBVIOUS.
WHEN YOU LOOK AT NOVA AND YOU LOOK AT M.C.
MICHAEL: THERE IS A BIG SIZE DIFFERENCE.
AND DIPOKO IS ON THE BENCH AT THE MOMENT AND I CAN’T HELP BUT
THINK IT’S GOT TO BE RELATED TO THE ANKLE SITUATION.
MARCUS: YOU KNOW, FOR COACH KENNO TO REALLY, YOU KNOW, PUSH
THE INJURIES, I DON’T THINK IT’S ANY REAL — THERE IS NO
REAL NEED, YOU KNOW, TO PUT THE INJURED PLAYERS OUT THERE RIGHT
NOW. THEY KNOW WHERE THEY FIT IN THE
UPCOMING TOURNAMENT. MICHAEL: MORALES WILL TRY TO
BRING THE RAPTORS BACK INTO IT AS THEY HAVE CUT IT TO 17-9.
CAUGHT KNAPOVA BY SURPRISE. HERE COMES THE SET. WINANS.
THAT IS OUT AS FIELDS HITS IT LONG.
WITH MORALES AT THE LINE THE RAPTORS HAVE CUT IT TO SEVEN.
NICE FLOATER OF A SERVE THERE. NGANDO.
I’M IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY SHE’S PLAYED TONIGHT ON THAT
ANKLE. AND IT’S IN. MARCUS: NICE SHOT FOR THE
NIGHTHAWKS. TOUGH SHOT TO BE IN ON THAT
BACK LINE LETTING IT GO LONG FOR BARRETO. MICHAEL: GOOD CALL.
GREAT SHOT BY OUR CAMERA FOLKS. WOW. BIG HIT THERE.
MARCUS: SHEILA SLIRL — SLIRL AND JEWELS BONNETTE, SIZE WISE,
THAT IS A BASKETBALL FRONT LINE YOU’RE LOOKING AT RIGHT THERE.
MICHAEL: WELL, THEY’RE BOTH SIX FOOTERS AND THE RAPTORS JUST
DON’T HAVE THAT KIND OF HEIGHT. AND THERE’S ANOTHER POINT FOR
NOVA. MARCUS: YOU HAVE THE YOUNG PLAYER IN WINANS WHO HAS BEEN
REALLY A GOOD PLAYER AT THE NET AND SHE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR
A KILL RIGHT THERE BUT IT GOES RIGHT INTO THE BIG PLAYERS.
MICHAEL: RIGHT INTO THE TALL FOREST.
AS NOVA ON THE VERGE NOW OF TAKING A TWO SETS TO ONE LEAD.
HOUGHLAND WITH THE SERVE. HERE COMES THE SET.
NGANDO, NICE ONE. MARCUS: NICE HIT.
NICE OUTSIDE HIT AND NGANDO PUT IT AWAY.
MICHAEL: SYMONE JENKINS COULD NOT GET TO THAT ONE.
SO WE’LL SEE IF THE SOPHOMORE CAN GET SOMETHING GOING FROM
THE LINE HERE. MARCUS: GREAT PASS BY
CHRISTIANA. MICHAEL: LAMOUREUX. NICE DIG BY NGANDO.
THERE’S MORALES. SHE GETS IT IN THERE FOR THE
POINT. SHE’S HAD A GOOD MATCH. 21-12. BACKWARDS SET.
AND THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. MARCUS: THAT WAS A NICE SETUP
PLAY. MICHAEL: BOY. MARCUS: WHEN YOU SEE NUMBER 17,
JEWELS BONNETTE, SETTING UP AT THE NET AND SUDDENLY SHE HITS A
BACK SET, TO HER FRIEND ON THE OUTSIDE, IT’S TOUGH TO DEFEND.
MICHAEL: THAT IS FOR SURE. WELL DONE. WELL EXECUTED.
AND HERE COMES ONE BY THE RAPTORS.
MARCUS: CHRISTIANA IS SETTING UP EVERYBODY, IN THE MIDDLE OF
EVERY PLAY. MICHAEL: HERE IT COMES.
BORJA TRIED TO FIND THE HOLE IN THE DEFENSE AND DIDN’T.
IT GOES LONG AND WILL BE A POINT FOR THE RAPTORS.
MARCUS: AGAIN, THE SETTER COMES TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR FOR
THE RAPTORS. MICHAEL: AND THAT’S A POINT.
IF YOU’RE LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR, YOU HAVE WINANS, YOU HAVE
RIOS, YOU HAVE WILHELM-GLAB. THIS IS GOING TO BE SOME TALENT
COMING BACK. MORALES. MICHAEL: NICE. MORALES, BARRETO.
MARCUS: THERE’S DEFINITELY A CORPS FOR COACH KENNO TO BUILD
OFF RIGHT NOW. MICHAEL: LET’S KEEP IN MIND
THIS IS TORI’S FIRST YEAR AS HEAD COACH.
OF COURSE, SHE TOOK OVER IN THE SUMMER.
DIDN’T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME TO RECRUIT.
NICE SERVE THERE BY WINANS. MARCUS: SHE’S HAD A GOOD GAME
FROM THE BACK LINE, WINANS. MICHAEL: SHE CUTS THE LEAD TO
SIX. THAT’S AS CLOSE AS THE RAPTORS
HAVE BEEN SINCE EARLY IN THE SET.
SO LET’S SEE IF SHE CAN KEEP IT GOING. MORALES.
THERE’S DIP COCO BACK IN. SHE HITS IT LONG.
DIPOKO BACK IN. SHE HITS IT LONG.
NGANDO NOW TAKING A BREAK OFF THAT ANKLE.
BUT THEY’VE GOT TO BE ENCOURAGED WITH THE WAY SHE’S
PLAYED TONIGHT. SO MUCH OF VOLLEYBALL IS TIMING
AND I’M SURE THEY WANTED TO GET HER PLAYING TIME IF FOR NO
OTHER REASON THAN TO WORK ON THE TIMING FOR TOMORROW NIGHT.
WHEN THE TOURNAMENT STARTS. TALKED ABOUT THAT IN THE
PREGAME. THE RAPTORS WILL BE PLAYING
TOMORROW NIGHT IN THE NJCAA REGION TOURNAMENT.
THEY HAVE A SEMIFINAL MATCH AT 7:00 TOMORROW NIGHT.
NICE POINT BY DIP OAKO. NICE POINT BY DIPOKO.
MARCUS: SEE IF CHRISTIANA CAN GET BACK UP TO THAT NET TO SET
UP A POINT. THAT’S KEY WHEN SHE’S THE
SERVER. MICHAEL: SHE DOES. SETS IT.
MIS-HIT THERE BY DIPOKO. SO THIS IS SET POINT FOR NOVA.
MARCUS: A DANGEROUS SERVER ON THE BACK LINE FOR THE
NIGHTHAWKS FOR SET POINT. MICHAEL: MORALES HAS IT BLOCKED
AND THAT IS THE SET. NOVA TAKES THE SECOND OF — THE
SECOND SET OF THE NIGHT . WE ARE READY, WILL BE RIGHT
BACK AFTER A QUICK BREAK. WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK WITH THE
FOURTH SET. MICHAEL: WE ARE BACK ON THE
ROCKVILLE CAMPUS OF MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
MICHAEL BROWN ALONGSIDE MARCUS ROSANO WHERE NORTHERN VIN YA
LEADS THE MATCH TONIGHT, TWO SETS TO ONE.
GOOD LOOK INSIDE THE MONTGOMERY COLLEGE HUDDLE.
HEAD COACH TORI KENNO THERE IN THE CENTER OF YOUR PICTURE.
GOOD LOOK AT PAM NGANDO, AUBREY DIPOKO, NICOLE RIOS, AND A LOOK
INSIDE THE NOVA HUDDLE. LOOKING AT THE STATS AFTER
THREE SETS OF PLAY, NOVA NOW KIND OF ESTABLISHING A LITTLE
BIT OF DOMINANCE HERE IN THE ATTACK DEPARTMENT.
THEY HAVE 107 VS. 97 FOR THE RAPTORS. 23 KILLS TO 21 .
ATTACKERS ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME.
M.C. ACTUALLY LEADS IN ASSISTS, 19-18, AND ACTUALLY LEADS IN
SERVICE ACES, WHICH SURPRISES ME JUST A LITTLE BIT.
BUT THEY HAVE TWICE AS MANY SERVE ERRORS, MARCUS.
MARCUS: THAT THIRD SET THAT WAS WON JUST NOW BY THE NIGHTHAWKS
WAS REALLY KEYED BY THE RUN THAT CAITLYN RILEY DID AT THE
SERVICE LINE. I BELIEVE SHE RAN UP 11
STRAIGHT POINTS. WHEN YOU CAN RUN ONE SERVICE
LINE PLAYER FOR 11 POINTS, YOU’RE MOST LIKELY GOING TO WIN
THAT SET. SO, YOU KNOW, THAT THIRD SET
REALLY WAS A LOT, HAD TO DO WITH CAITLYN RILEY.
MICHAEL: TOTAL BLOCKS ARE FOUR FOR NOVA, TWO FOR MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE BLOCK
ASSISTS, EIGHT FOR NOVA, NONE FOR MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
SO IN REALITY A BLOCK ASSIST IS TWO PLAYERS GOING UP FOR THE
SAME BLOCK. AND BEING CREDITED WITH THE
BLOCK. SO THAT’S A BIG ADVANTAGE.
THAT SPEAKS I THINK TO THE HEIGHT ADVANTAGE.
MARCUS: IT REALLY DOES. EVERY ATTACK THAT THE RAPTORS
HAVE YOU HAVE TWO BIG GIRLS FROM THE NIGHTHAWKS AT THE NET.
MICHAEL: RIGHT. AND THAT’S BEEN A BIG PART OF
THE PROBLEM TONIGHT. FOR MONTGOMERY COLLEGE IS JUST
THE PURE AND SIMPLE HEIGHT ADVANTAGE THAT NOVA HAS OVER
THEM. I MEAN, EVEN YOU LOOK AT COLLEEN LAMOUREUX, SHE IS A
TALL, LANKY PERSON. SO HERE WE ARE IN THE FOURTH SET.
IF NOVA SHOULD TAKE THIS ONE, THE MATCH WOULD BE OVER.
THERE’S A POINT FOR THE RAPTORS. MARCUS: LET’S SEE WHO STEPS UP
FOR THE RAPTORS AND TAKES CHARGE.
IT COULD BE NICOLE RIOS FROM THE BACK LINE.
SHE IS THEIR BEST SERVER, THE RAPTORS.
MICHAEL: TIED FOR THE TEAM LEAD IN SERVICE ACES AND TONIGHT HAS
CERTAINLY BEEN THEIR BEST SERVER ALONG WITH I’D SAY
PROBABLY CAITLIN WINANS. THERE IS A BACK ROW ATTACK FROM
KNAPOVA, AND IT SCORES. MARCUS: A LITTLE
MISCOMMUNICATION BY THE RAPTORS AT THE FRONT LINE.
TWO BIG HITTERS IN THE SAME SPOT.
AND THEY WERE SORT OF SETTING THEMSELVES UP FOR A HIT BUT
NOBODY WAS THERE TO SET. MICHAEL: CAITLYN WINANS WITH —
CAITLIN WINANS WITH FOUR SERVICE ACES EVAN BROWN OUR
STATISTICIAN POINTS OUT. AND NICOLE RIOS WITH THREE.
MARCUS: ANOTHER GOOD SERVE BY THE NIGHTHAWKS.
AND THAT’S OUR OLD FRIEND CAITLYN RILEY AT THE BACK OF
THE SERVICE LINE. MICHAEL: SHE HAD THAT
TREMENDOUS RUN IN THE THIRD SET. MIKE:
MARCUS: PUTTING RIGHT ON NGANDO AS SHE DID IN THE THIRD SET.
MICHAEL: SO THAT’LL PUT RUBY BARRETO ON THE SERVICE LINE.
RUBY IS ANOTHER ONE OF THE RAPTOR FRESHMEN .
BLAIR HIGH SCHOOL. AND SHE’S GOING TO STAY THERE
AS THE RAPTORS PICK UP THE POINT.
SO THE RAPTORS WITH THE LEAD. THEY TRAILED THE ENTIRE THIRD
SET. SO AFTER TAKING THE SECOND SET
FIRST SET WENT TO NOVA, SECOND SET RAPTORS.
THIRD SET NOVA 25-18. MARCUS: RUBY BARRETO HAS FOUND
A NICE SPOT IN THAT, A SOFT SPOT IN THE NIGHTHAWKS DEFENSE.
SERVING RIGHT AT MCKINLEE HOUGHLAND.
MICHAEL: THERE SHE GOES AGAIN. THIS TIME TO KNAPOVA.
BIG HIT BUT LONG. SHEILA SLIL WITH A LITTLE TOO
MUCH BEHIND THAT ONE. BARRETO WILL STAY.
FOUR STRAIGHT POINTS. GOT TO GET IT OVER AND THEY DO.
COMES THE SET. BACK ROW ATTACK AND IT’S LONG.
SO SYMONE JENKINS HITS IT LONG AND BARRETO STAYS ON THE LINE.
BUSINESS MAJOR. NICE BLOCK THERE BY WINANS.
MARCUS: WINANS BLOCKED JEWELS BONNETTE.
MICHAEL: SIX STRAIGHT POINTS NOW BY BARRETO AND MARCUS
ROBINSON WANTS TO TAKE A TIME-OUT AND TALK THIS OVER AS
THE RAPTORS HAVE JUMPED OUT TO A 9-3 LEAD HERE IN THE THIRD
SET. MARCUS: YOU KNOW, THE NIGHTHAWKS REALLY CAME OUT IN
THIS FOURTH SET KIND OF ASLEEP. NOT ATTACKING.
KIND OF WAITING FOR THE SERVE TO COME, AND RUBY BARRETO HAS
REALLY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF SOME SLOPPY FOURTH SET PLAY.
I THINK MARCUS ROBINSON IS TELLING THEM TO, HEY, WAKE UP.
YOU JUST DOMINATED THE THIRD SET AND NOW YOU’RE GOING TO
COME AND SLEEP WALK THROUGH THE FOURTH.
MICHAEL: WELL, MARCUS, YOU KNOW, WE DO WANT TO TALK ABOUT
THE FACT THAT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE TELEVISION IS NOW HD IN
THE COUNTY. THERE YOU CAN SEE OUR NEW
NUMBERS. THIS JUST HAPPENED ON OCTOBER 2.
WE RECEIVED AN HD CHANNEL FROM COMCAST.
AND SO RIGHT NOW WE ARE ON CHANNEL 998 IN HD ON THE
COMCAST SYSTEM. WE’RE ON CHANNEL 1058 IN HD ON
THE RCN SYSTEM. IF YOU HAVE VERIZON VIOS WE ARE
STILL ON CHANNEL 10 THERE. MARCUS: THAT JUST DOESN’T
HAPPEN WITH THE MAGIC, YOU KNOW, FLICK OF THE SWITCH.
THAT’S A LOT OF HARD WORK FROM A LOT OF PEOPLE AT MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE TELEVISION. MICHAEL: SO HD SIGNAL STARTING,
WELL, IT STARTED. BEEN ALMOST A MONTH NOW.
SO, JEWELS BONNETTE ON THE LINE. NICE PLACEMENT, BUT KNAPOVA WAS
THERE. THAT’S IN. MARCUS: I HAVE TO SAY, MICHAEL,
WHEN YOU SEE YOURSELF IN H.D., YOU KNOW IT. MICHAEL: AH, YEAH.
WE’RE NOT GOING TO GET INTO THAT BECAUSE IT’S NOT A PRETTY
SIGHT. AT LEAST FOR YOURS TRULY. MARCUS: THERE’S A LOT OF
PROGRAMMING MONTGOMERY COLLEGE PROGRAMMING IS GOING TO DELIVER
IN A BEAUTIFUL HD PICTURE. MICHAEL: SO JEWELS BONNETTE ON
THE LINE. MARCUS: TRYING TO GET THE
NIGHTHAWKS BACK IN THIS GAME. BIG TIME-OUT FROM MARCUS
ROBINSON. SEE IF THEY ANSWER. MICHAEL: AND THAT GOES LONG.
AND THAT’LL PUT MARLENE MORALES ON THE LINE.
AND THERE’S THE WHISTLE. POINT FOR THE RAPTORS.
MARCUS: THAT IS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE POINTS WHERE SOMEBODY WAS
EITHER IN THE NET FOR INTERFERENCE AND —
MICHAEL: NOBODY WAS IN THE NET THERE.
IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THEIR LINEUP.
MARCUS: MAYBE IT IS. IT GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH OF THE
INS AND OUTS OF THESE RULES — SOME VERY MINUTE DETAILS.
MICHAEL: AND APPARENTLY COACH ROBINSON AGREED WITH IT BECAUSE
THE OFFICIAL SPOKE TO HIM. HE SHOOK HIS HEAD YES.
YOU’RE RIGHT. I’M ASSUMING IT HAD SOMETHING
TO DO WITH LINE-UPS. MARCUS: BASICALLY A FREE POINT.
MICHAEL: RIGHT. NICE DIG BY BARRETO.
BOY, SHE HITS THE DECK. AND OUT. MARCUS: CHRISTIANO WILHELM-GLAB
WANTS THAT ONE BACK. JUST AN INSTINCT PLAY.
MICHAEL: HERE COMES THE SET. THERE’S SHERRILL .
TOOK SOMETHING OFF THAT ONE. NGANDO WAS THERE. LAMOUREUX.
THAT’S A POINT FOR THE RAPTORS. SO M.C. HAS BEEN IN THE LEAD
THIS ENTIRE SET. SO THIS IS RIGHT NOW A BIT OF A
REVERSE FROM THE THIRD SET, WHERE NOVA LED FROM START TO
FINISH. THERE’S NGANDO. MARCUS: NICE SERVE.
MICHAEL: RIGHT ON THE LINE. MARCUS: SYMONE JENKINS DIDN’T
WANT TO GET NEAR THAT ONE AND IT CAUGHT THE LINE.
PROBABLY GOING TO PUT THAT ONE EXACTLY IN THE SAME SPOT IF SHE
CAN. MICHAEL: GREAT LOOK AT IT. BEAUTIFUL COVERAGE ON THE BALL
THERE. FOLLOWED IT ALL THE WAY TO THE
LINE. AS USUAL, GREAT CAMERA WORK.
GREAT TECHNICAL EXPERTISE BY OUR MCTV TELEVISION PRODUCTION
CREW HERE TONIGHT. LED BY THE INEVITABLE SCOTT
YOUNG BLOOD CALLING THE SHOTS IN THE TRUCK. RIOS.
THAT’S A POINT FOR MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
RAPTORS NOW WITH A 15-8 LEAD. NGANDO. MARCUS: NGANDO AGAIN.
THE SET FROM THE SERVICE LINE. MICHAEL: BONNETTE DIDN’T EVEN
JUMP. SHE JUST KIND OF POPPED IT OVER
VERY CASUALLY AND PICKED UP THE POINT.
MARCUS: BACK TO PAM NGANDO SERVING, THAT’S A GREAT PLAY BY
JEWELS BONNETTE. BUT A GOOD SERVE REALLY
NEUTRALIZES SIZE IF YOU DON’T HAVE SIZE AND M.C. REALLY
DOESN’T HAVE A BIG LINEUP. MICHAEL: THEY REALLY DON’T.
EVEN WHEN FULLY HEALTHY. MARCUS: THAT’S RIGHT.
THERE’S RIOS. SHE PLAYED REALLY HARD TONIGHT.
THEY ALL HAVE. MARCUS: GOOD POINTS.
THIS IS A REAL GOOD POINT. AND BONNETTE HITS IT INTO THE
NET. MARCUS: NICOLE RIOS, SHE WAS
REALLY READY FOR THAT HIT FROM BONNETTE.
BONNETTE WAS FURTHER FROM THE NET THAN SHE REALLY WANTS TO BE
IN THAT POSITION AND I THINK RIOS WAS WAITING FOR HER.
OH, NO. SHE HIT IT RIGHT INTO THE NET.
MICHAEL: A LOT OF EMOTION THERE ON CAITLIN WINANS’ FACE AFTER
THAT POINT. IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW HARD
THESE KIDS WORK. LET ME TELL YOU, MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE, BEING A D-3 PROGRAM, THESE KIDS ARE PLAYING THE
SPORT FOR THE LOVE OF IT. MARCUS: IT’S A TESTAMENT TO THE
EMOTION BETWEEN SIMPLY POINTS AND VOLLEYBALL. UP APP DOWN.
UP AND DOWN. WITH EACH POINT. SOMETHING YOU DON’T SEE IN
BASEBALL. SOMETHING YOU DON’T REALLY SEE
IN BASKETBALL. OR EVEN SOCCER. BUT THIS IS, YOU CAN HAVE THAT
LONG, DRAWN OUT POINT AND THEN THE LOSER OF THAT POINT, IT
JUST TAKES THE WIND OUT OF YOUR SAILS AND ON THE OTHER SIDE
IT’S JUBILATION AND JUST ONE POINT. MICHAEL: AN ENERGIZER.
JUST ONE POINT OUT OF MANY. SO THE RAPTORS WITH THE
FIVE-POINT LEAD. AND THAT GOES OUT.
SO CHRISTIANA WILHELM-GLAB STAYS ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: NICE SERVE. MICHAEL: KNAPOVA.
BOY, THAT BACK LINE ATTACK OF HERS IS TOUGH.
MARCUS: THAT WAS A BIG, LONG HIT FROM THE BACK LINE TO THE
BACK LINE OF THE RAPTORS BASICALLY.
MICHAEL: SO COLLEEN LAMOUREUX BACK ON THE SERVICE LINE.
AND IT GOES LONG. MARCUS: BORJA MADE A SMART PLAY
LETTING THAT GO LONG. GIVES THE POINT TO THE RAPTORS
AND YOU GET RIOS AT THE BACK LINE TO SERVE IT.
MICHAEL: THAT’S WHO YOU WANT. MARCUS: NICE.
MICHAEL: BOY, SHE KISSED THAT LINE.
MARCUS: AND MCKINLEE HOUGHLAND IS DISAGREEING WITH THE CALL
BUT I DON’T THINK WE EVEN NEED A REPLAY.
THAT WAS ABOUT A FOOT AND A HALF IN.
MICHAEL: AND A GREAT LOOK AT IT. MARCUS: OH, MAYBE I’M WRONG!
MICHAEL: THAT BACK HALF OF THE BALL MAY HAVE CAUGHT THAT LINE.
MARCUS: COULD HAVE. GREAT SHOT. MICHAEL: AND A GREAT REPLAY.
THAT ONE’S IN. MARCUS: I DO HAVE AN EYE DOCTOR
APPOINTMENT ON NOVEMBER 7. MICHAEL: ALL RIGHT.
WELL, HERE’S CAITLYN RILEY BACK ON THE LINE TALKING ABOUT
SOMEBODY WHO NOVA WOULD WANT ON THE LINE.
OOH, BIG HIT THERE BY DIPOKO. SO AUBREY DIPOKO MAKES HER
PRESENCE KNOWN. MARCUS: AN INTERESTING POINT.
THREE OR FOUR SOFT HITS AND THEN THE END BY AUDREY.
MICHAEL: BANG. AND WE NOTICED THAT WHEN SHE
RAN OFF THE COURT THAT SHE WAS LIMPING JUST A LITTLE BIT, SO
HOPEFULLY SHE’S OKAY. AUDREY DIPOKO, OF COURSE, ALONG
WITH PAM NGANDO, THEY’VE BEEN BOTH NURSING ANKLE INJURIES.
AND, OF COURSE, YOU COULD SEE FROM THE WAY THE GAME IS PLAYED
ANKLES ARE — MAN. YOU GOT TO HAVE SOUND ANKLES.
WINANS COMES TO SET. A LOT OF COMMUNICATION.
NGANDO HAS IT BLOCKED RIGHT BACK. SO 20-15.
MARCUS: SEE IF JEWELS BONNETTE CAN BRING NORTHERN VIRGINIA
BACK. MICHAEL: THAT WAS AN UGLY POINT
BUT IT’S A POINT. MARCUS: HOW THAT GOT OVER THE
NET ON MARLENE MORALES’ HIT I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT A POINT IS A
POINT. MICHAEL: OF COURSE THE RAPTORS
FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES HERE NEED THIS SET TO KEEP IT GOING
TO SEND IT TO FIVE. OTHERWISE THEY TURN THE LIGHTS
OUT. MARCUS: I THINK IT’S EVIDENCE
NORTHERN VIRGINIA DOESN’T HAVE THEIR BEST SETTER.
THEY’RE RELYING ON BONNETTE, REALLY, TO ALMOST SET UP THE
OFFENSE. SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BIG
ASSIST. MICHAEL: THAT’S RIGHT. MARCUS: DOESN’T MAKE MUCH SENSE
BUT YOU GOT TO DO WHAT YOU GOT TO DO.
MICHAEL: AND THEY FIND A HOLE. SO 21-16.
RAPTORS NEED TO WIN THIS SET OR THE MATCH IS OVER.
NOVA WITH THE TWO SETS TO ONE LEAD IN THE BEST OF FIVE FORMAT.
AND THEY PICK UP ANOTHER POINT, SO 22-16.
MARCUS: PAM NGANDO AT THE BACK LINE AGAIN AND A GOOD SPOT FOR
THE RAPTORS TO SEND THIS TO A FIFTH SET. MICHAEL: AND, BOY.
SHE DROPPED IT RIGHT IN THE DONUT HOLE. MICHAEL: YEP.
AND IT’S PERFECT PLACEMENT BEHIND THE FRONT LINE AND IN
FRONT OF THE BACK LINE. MICHAEL: NOVA IS GOING TO TAKE
A TIME-OUT HERE TO TALK THINGS OVER WITH THE SCORER AT 23-16,
RAPTORS ON TOP. WE’RE GOING TO TAKE A REAL
QUICK BREAK. WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK WITH THE
REST OF THE SET. MICHAEL: WE ARE BACK ACTION AND
ALL SET FOR SET POINT TO BE REDONE. ALL SET FOR SET POINT.
MARCUS: WITH PAM NGANDO READY TO TAKE THIS INTO A FIFTH SET.
MICHAEL: 24-16, RAPTORS. THERE’S THE SERVE.
KNAPOVA WITH A NICE HIT. RAPTORS SAVE IT.
CAITLIN WINANS BLOCK AND POINT AND SET TO THE RAPTORS AS
MONTGOMERY COLLEGE TAKES THE FOURTH SET, 25-16.
GOING TO GET A GOOD LOOK AT SET POINT.
HERE GOES LAMOUREUX AND SHE HITS IT INTO THE NET.
THE BLOCK WAS THERE BUT SHE HIT IT INTO THE NET.
THAT GIVES THE SET TO THE RAPTORS AND TIES IT ALL UP AT
2-2. WE’LL TAKE A BREAK AND BE RIGHT
BACK WITH THE FIFTH AND DECIDING SET AFTER THIS.
MICHAEL: WE’RE BACK ON THE ROCKVILLE CAMPUS OF MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE MICHAEL BROWN ALONGSIDE MARCUS ROSANO ALL SET FOR THE
FIFTH AND DECIDING SET. EVERYTHING IS TIED UP HERE AT
2-2. MARCUS, TAKING A LOOK AT SOME
OF THE STATS FROM THE FOURTH SET THE ONE THAT JUMPS OUT AT
US THE MOST OF COURSE IS ERRORS. 12 FOR NOVA IN THAT SET TO JUST
TWO FOR THE RAPTORS. MARCUS: THE RAPTORS HAD THEIR
BACKS AGAINST THE WALL IN THAT FOURTH SET AND NOVA COULD HAVE
TAKEN THIS MATCH AWAY AND WE COULD HAVE BEEN WRAPPING IT UP
RIGHT NOW. BUT THEY DIDN’T COME OUT WITH
THAT FIRE THAT THEY DID IN THE THIRD SET AND THE RAPTORS SAID,
SURE. LET’S GO FIVE SETS. WE DON’T REALLY WANT TO GO HOME
RIGHT NOW. THEY DIDN’T MAKE THE ERRORS AND
HERE WE ARE IN THE FIFTH SET. MICHAEL: AND DIGS FOR THE MATCH
FOR ALL FOUR SETS SO FAR, THE RAPTORS WITH 72-64 FOR NOVA.
THAT’S A BIG STAT. NOVA WITH MORE ATTACKS.
THEY’VE HAD 144 VERSUS 120. KILLS ARE PRETTY EVEN.
32-27 IN NOVA’S FAVOR. I’M NOT SURPRISED TO SEE THEM
LEADING THAT STAT. BUT IT’S A LITTLE CLOSER THAN
YOU MIGHT HAVE EXPECTED GIVEN THE HEIGHT ADVANTAGE THAT THE
NIGHTHAWKS HAVE OVER THE RAPTORS.
MARCUS: THIS IS THE LAST SET FOR BOTH TEAMS BEFORE THEY HEAD
INTO THE POSTSEASON. MICHAEL: THAT’S RIGHT.
THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO POLISH THINGS UP HERE.
IT ALL STARTS TOMORROW. TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7:00 THE
RAPTORS WILL PLAY A SEMIFINAL MATCH IN THE NJCAA REGION THREE
TOURNAMENT PLAYING AGAINST HOWARD. LONG-TIME RIVAL HOWARD.
DOESN’T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT SPORT IT IS.
HOWARD IS A RIVAL OF OURS AND NO MATTER WHAT SPORT IT IS.
MARCUS: WELL IT REALLY SHOULD BE.
MICHAEL: THEY’RE RIGHT UP THE ROAD. AND OF COURSE WE’RE IN THE
FIFTH SET NOW AND IT IS ONLY A 15-POINT SET.
IT’S STILL WIN BY TWO. BUT IT GOES TO 15.
OF COURSE IT COULD GO TO 16 OR 17 DEPENDING ON THE LEAD.
YOU HAVE TO WIN IT BY TWO, BUT NOVA HAS JUMPED OUT TO A QUICK
2-0 LEAD AND NIKOLA KNAPOVA WITH HER GAME FACE ON.
MARCUS: WE’VE GOT SOME PRETTY GOOD — OOH. NICE SERVE.
AND THE CROWD BEHIND US IS REALLY GETTING INTO IT.
IT’S A GOOD CROWD. MICHAEL: A GOOD CROWD TONIGHT.
AND THEY’RE VOCAL. MARCUS: BUT THE EXCITEMENT FOR
A FIFTH SET, REALLY, THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN FEEL IT.
MICHAEL: OH, MAN. MARCUS: THAT WAS A SERIOUS
THIRD. WOW. I MEAN, THAT WAS A SERIOUS
SERVE. AND NOT ONLY DID SHE DRILL THAT
SERVE BUT SHE NAILED THE LINE. MICHAEL: MAN.
PUT IT IN AN IMPOSSIBLE PLACE. THAT’S TOUGH.
LET’S GET ANOTHER LOOK HERE AT KNAPOVA. AND THERE SHE IS AGAIN.
BOY, IS SHE ON A ROLL. MARCUS: RIGHT AT BORJA WHO WAS
IN A BAD SPOT. MICHAEL: WE SHOULDN’T BE
SURPRISED. SHE IS LEADING THE TEAM WITH 43
SERVICE ACES. MARCUS: ALMOST LIKE THEY JUST
UNLEASHED KNAPOVA IN THE FIFTH SET. WHERE HAS THAT SERVE BEEN?
MICHAEL: YEAH. AND YOU COULD SEE SHE’S GOT
THREE — THREE OUT OF HER FIRST FIVE SERVES ARE ACES IN THIS
SET. SO –. MARCUS: AND DON’T THINK FOR A
MINUTE THAT NORTHERN VIRGINIA DOESN’T REALIZE THEY PLAYED A
LOUSY FOURTH SET. MICHAEL: RIGHT. RIGHT. YEAH.
THEIR COACH HAS BEEN AROUND. SHE’S GOT THREE IN THIS SET.
THE RAPTORS HAVE TWO PLAYERS WITH FOUR FOR THE ENTIRE MATCH.
SO KNAPOVA PUTTING ON QUITE AN EXHIBITION BACK THERE.
ANOTHER TOUGH ONE. MARCUS: RIGHT ON THE UPPER BODY
OF BARRETO. MICHAEL: AND THERE IS RILEY.
AND IT’S OUT. MARCUS: JUST A LITTLE LONG FOR
RILEY. RAPTORS FINALLY ON THE BOARD.
AND THAT MOVES KNAPOVA OUT OF THAT SERVICE LINE THANKFULLY.
AND NOW CHRISTIANA HAS TO MAKE THAT SERVE AND THEN GET BACK UP
TO THAT FRONT SO SHE CAN SET . THE OFFENSE IS RUNNING THROUGH
HER ALL NIGHT. MICHAEL: GOOD SERVE.
AND THEY’LL HAVE A TOUGH TIME GETTING IT OVER. THEY DO.
MARCUS: NICE PLAY BY HOUGHLAND. MICHAEL: THERE’S THE SET FOR
DIPOKO AND THE POINT. DIPOKO HANDLED THAT ONE.
IT WAS CLOSE TO THE NET THAT SET. MARCUS: YOU KNOW, HER ANKLE
LOOKED PRETTY GOOD HERE. SHE GETS SOME GOOD HEIGHT THERE.
MICHAEL: A TOUGH SERVE. THERE’S KNAPOVA FROM THE BACK
LINE. IT’S TOO LONG. SO THE RAPTORS NOW HAVE CUT
BACK INTO THE LEAD. IT’S 5-3. AS CHRISTIANA WILHELM-GLAB IS
TRYING TO GET SOMETHING GOING HERE FROM THE SERVICE LINE.
GOOD PLACEMENT AGAIN. BACK SET. LAMOUREUX. HERE COMES THE SET.
RIOS. SAVES IT. SO 6-3. AGAIN, FIFTH SET TO 15.
WIN BY TWO. SO IT MAKES IT A LITTLE MORE
URGENT WHEN YOU’RE DOWN 6-3. MAKE THAT 7-3.
MARCUS: NICE SERVE BY LAMOUREUX. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT
DEFENSE. MICHAEL: AND THE RAPTORS PICK
UP A POINT TO STAY ALIVE. 7-4. MARCUS: A LITTLE
MISCOMMUNICATION AT THE FRONT LINE OF THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA
NIGHTHAWKS. MICHAEL: YOU CAN ILL AFFORD TO
FALL BEHIND BY TOO MANY HERE IN A FIFTH SET. HERE’S RIOS.
SHE HAD A REAL GOOD NIGHT FROM THE SERVICE LINE. KNAPOVA.
MARCUS: NICE SMART PLAY. MICHAEL: PICKS UP THE POINT AND
MORE IMPORTANTLY SIDE OUT FOR NOVA AS THE TEAMS SWITCH ENDS.
8-4 NOVA IN THE FOURTH SET OR I’M SORRY THE FIFTH SET.
CAITLYN RILEY BACK ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: THAT COULD BE TROUBLE. MICHAEL: DAN HAS BEEN HERE A
LONG TIME. NINE YEARS I BELIEVE. GREAT GUY.
MARCUS: REALLY HELPED COACH KENNO. YOU KNOW THAT.
MICHAEL: THAT’S FOR SURE. HE KNOWS THE ROPES.
THAT WAS A TOUGH ONE. SO RUBY BARRETO. AND, AH.
THEY’RE SAYING IT POSSIBLY COULD HAVE BEEN INTERFERENCE
WITH THE NET. MARCUS: STILL RAPTORS POINT.
MICHAEL: THERE’S FIELDS. NICE SAVE BY LILLY MILLER.
MARCUS: THE DIGS ARE PILING UP FOR THE RAPTORS.
MICHAEL: THAT’S FOR SURE. MARCUS: NOT NECESSARILY ALWAYS
A GOOD THING THOUGH. MICHAEL: NO.
BECAUSE IT MEANS THE OTHER TEAM IS ON A LOT OF ATTACKS.
HERE’S NGANDO. SHE’LL BE LONG. IT’S NOW 9-5.
MARCUS: A LITTLE BIT OF A DANGER ZONE HERE FOR THE
RAPTORS. MICHAEL: WE ARE. FIFTH AND DECIDING SET.
JEWELS BONNETTE ON THE SERVICE LINE. WINANS, NICE HIT.
NICE HIT. THEY NEEDED THAT. MARCUS: BIG POINT. YOU’RE RIGHT.
BIG POINT. MICHAEL: THAT PUTS MARLENE
MORALES BACK ON THE SERVICE LINE.
MARCUS: SHE’S BEEN A SPARK PLUG ALL GAME MORALES HAS.
MICHAEL: SHE REALLY HAS. MICHAEL: MILLER, BARRETO.
THEY GOT TO GET IT OVER. MILLER DOES.
MARCUS: NICE PLAYING BY THE RAPTORS.
MICHAEL: GOOD COMMUNICATION THERE.
MARCUS: THIS IS A GREAT SET, OUTSIDE HIT.
JUST LIKE YOU DRAW IT UP. MICHAEL: VERY ATHLETIC HIT.
THERE’S WINANS . GET IT OVER. SHERRILL GOT IT OVER.
HERE COMES THE SET. NGANDO NICE SAVE IN THERE.
THE POINT GOES — REALLY IN THE DANGER ZONE FOR MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE. THE FIFTH SET SO ONLY TO 15.
A MIS-HIT THERE BY GLAB. MISTIMED IT. 12-6 NOW.
AS HOUGHLAND ON THE SERVICE LINE. MARCUS: THE POINT —
MICHAEL: KNAPOVA FLAT FOOTED COMES TO — OOH AND THAT’S IN.
MICHAEL: 13-6. RAPTORS HAVE GOT TO GET THIS
POINT. HERE IT COMES. NGANDO, NOPE.
TOO MUCH HEIGHT AT THE NET. JUST TOO MUCH. SHEILA SHERRILL.
MARCUS: TO GET IT OVER THE SIX FOOTERS YOU REALLY HAVE TO HIT
THE BALL HIGH AND SIZE JUST REALLY ISN’T THERE.
MICHAEL: SET AND MATCH POINT HERE FOR HOUGHLAND.
AND THAT IS IT. AS NOVA COMES BACK TO TAKE THE
FIFTH SET 15-6. AND THEY TAKE THE MATCH, THREE
SETS TO TWO. WE’LL TAKE A REAL QUICK BREAK
AND THEN BE BACK WITH A LOOK AT THE STATS AND SOME FINAL
THOUGHTS. YOU’RE WATCHING MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL ON MC TV. MICHAEL: WELCOME BACK TO THE
ROCKVILLE CAMPUS OF MONTGOMERY COLLEGE.
MICHAEL BROWN ALONGSIDE MY PARTNER MARCUS ROSANO WHERE WE
HAVE JUST SEEN NORTHERN VIRGINIA TAKE THIS VOLLEYBALL
MATCH TONIGHT, THREE SETS TO TWO TAKING THE LAST — THE
FIFTH AND DECIDING SET, 15-6. MARCUS, LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT
SOME OF THE STATS TONIGHT. TO ME, A COUPLE THINGS REALLY
JUMP OUT. ATTACK, ERRORS, THE ERRORS IN
THE FIFTH AND FINAL SET. RAPTORS WITH SEVEN VERSUS THREE
FOR NOVA. MARCUS: THEY DIDN’T PLAY WELL
IN THE FOURTH SET AND IN THE FIFTH SET TOOK A STEP BACK AND
SAID, HEY. LET’S GO AND TAKE THIS THING.
I GOT TO HAND IT TO THE RAPTORS. THEIR TWO SOPHOMORES WERE
INJURED AS WE TALKED ABOUT NGANDO AND AUDREY DIPOKO HAD A
BAD ANKLE. THEY PLAYED HARD, PLAYED TOUGH.
BUT ONE THING THAT I’M TAKING AWAY FROM THIS MATCH IS THE
BRIGHT SPOTS THAT I’VE SEEN IN THEIR YOUTH.
NEXT YEAR THIS TEAM IS GOING TO BE LEGIT.
MICHAEL: THAT IS FOR SURE BECAUSE TONIGHT WE SAW REALLY
EXCELLENT PLAY AT TIMES FROM CAITLIN WINANS, NICOLE —
MARCUS: WILHELM-GLAB IS A FANTASTIC SETTER GIVING THE
BALL TO THE GIRLS WHERE THEY NEED TO HAVE THE BALL TO HIT.
SO THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT. IT REALLY IS.
MICHAEL: REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW, WHEN THEY
START THE REGION 20 TOURNAMENT I THINK THE FUTURE IS VERY
BRIGHT HERE FOR THE RAPTORS VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM UNDER TORI
KENNO. ONCE AGAIN OUR FINAL FROM THE
ROCKVILLE CAMPUS OF MONTGOMERY COLLEGE, NORTHERN VIRGINIA,
TAKES IT THREE SETS TO TWO AND AS ALWAYS I WANT TO THANK
EVERYONE ON THE MONTGOMERY COLLEGE TELEVISION PRODUCTION
CREW FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WORK TONIGHT.
FOR MARCUS ROSANO, I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR WATCHING AND
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TUNING IN TO MONTGOMERY COLLEGE
VOLLEYBALL ON MCTV.
