How to Play Volleyball : How to Rotate in Volleyball

Hello, this is Keith Sewell on behalf of Expert
Village. In this clip, we’re going to talk about how to rotate in volleyball. Six players
must be on the court, three on the front and three on the back. When a team wins a rally,
it gains the right to serve and must rotate one position clockwise. Each player must be
within the court at the time the ball is served. All players must be in their correctly rotated
position by the time the ball is served or an out-of-rotation is called, resulting the
loss of a rally. So even though, say an outside hitter, wants to always be hitting from the
left side of the court, he’s not always positioned at that point in his spot on the rotation
when he’s on the front row. He’s only in that position one time in the rotation. Even though
he may be in the front right part of the rotation, he can line up in a way so that only a small
part of his shoe is to the right of the players….meaning that he can actually line up on the left side
of the court as long as the other two players are to his left. He also needs to make sure
that since he’s in the front row that all three back row players are behind him. It
could be just a little bit, just as much as a tiny part of their shoe, but they do need
to be all behind him since he’s in the front row. The same holds true for the back row.
The guy that’s in position on say the left back cannot be to the right of any of the
other two players on the back row.
