For Young Players, Metrodome Baseball Tradition Lives On At U.S. Bank Stadium

. A — [ INDISCERNIBLE ] INCLUDING A HEAVY SCHEDULE OF BASEBALL GAMES. SURE WAS. THE DOME IS GONE BUT U.S. BANK STADIUM IS HERE. IT WAS BUILT PRIMARILY FOR FOOTBALL, OF COURSE, BUT CONVERTED TO ALLOW TEAMS FOR BASEBALL. THE THRILL IS SIMILAR TO THE METRODOME. THEY TAKE BATTING PRACTICE IN THE BOWELS. THE PREGAME RITUAL. THIS IS DIFFERENT. THIS IS THE BEGIN OF THE DAY PLAYING THE GREAT OUTDOOR GAME INDOORS. U.S. BANK STADIUM IS THE VENUE. AND PART OF THE BUILDING WAS TO ALLOW FOR BASEBALL. THEY CALLED TO FIND OUT IF THEY COULD PLAY A GAME. U.S. BANK IS GREAT. SENT OUT AN E-MAIL ASKING IF HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS WANT TO GET TOGETHER AND PLAY AT THE STADIUM. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY. IT’S GREAT FOR OUR KIDS TO BE IN AN ENVIRONMENT LIKE THIS, ESPECIALLY FROM A SMALL SCHOOL. Reporter: FOR TEAMS AND PLAYERS, THERE IS SOMETHING MAJESTIC ABOUT COMING INTO BIG LANDMARK BUILDINGS. EVEN WHY WITH SMALL CROWDS AND AN ECHO, IT FEELS GOOD. IT’S FUNNY. THE KIDS ARE EXCITED WHEN WE TOLD THEM A MONTH OR TWO AGO WE WERE GOING TO DO THIS AND THEY GOT EXCITED. IT’S A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR THEM. THEY NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO PLAY IN THE METRO — METRODOME. I REMEMBER WHEN I GOT TO PLAY THERE. AND THE JUDGED TO KEEP THE GRAND OLD GAME ALIVE BY GIVING DIFFERENT OPTIONS. THE KIND THAT COMES FROM BIG STADIUMS. AND THAT IS SPECIAL. IT WAS-IN-THE-ON OUR CALENDAR. — IT WAS NOT ON OUR CALENDAR. WE HEARD THAT THAT IS HERE AND. AND A DEEP LEFT CENTER. FOR METRO AND WE’LL SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT. Reporter: IT’S NOT QUITE THE SAME AS THE METRODOME WHERE YOU PLAY ON THE SAME FIELD AS THE WINS. BUT IT’S STILL THE VIKINGS HOME. AND THAT MEANS SOMETHING, AT LEAST TO MOST AND DOESN’T MEAN A LOT IF THE VIKINGS PLAY HERE? YEAH. I AM A BEARS FAN. FOR MOST OF THE TEAM — . I DIDN’T HEAR THAT. FOR MOST OF THE TEAM — . I THINK IT IS. OKAY. AND MEANS SOMETHING TO THEM, ANYWAY. YEAH. AND THE SETUP IS SIMILAR TO THE METRODOME, LEGAL THERE IS NO — ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO DIRT. THE DUGOUTS ARE TEMPORARY. YOU GET THE IDEA. IT’S A PLACE THAT WILL SUFFICE. AND IT LOOKS LIKE A FOOTBALL STADIUM AND IT’S GREAT. THEY HAVE IT IN THE RIGHT STILL AND THE SAME SETUP AS THE METRODOME. Reporter: AND WITH THE CONSTANT THREAT OF A MINNESOTA SPRING TURNING INTO WINTER, IT’S IMPORTANT THE STATE HAVE A PLACE WHERE THE GAME CAN LYYEAR ROUND. AND THIS IS OUR FIFTH GAME. WE’RE PLAYING THE BEGINNING OF APRIL. IT’S NICE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE COOL TIME COME HERE AND PLAY IN THE HIGH SCHOOL, TOO, AS WELL. IT’S NICE TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY. YOU KNOW IF YOU SCHEDULE, YOU WILL PLAY IT HERE. YEAH. AND CAN’T HELP BUT NOTICE
