Down But Not Out — Vandals Strike Little League Baseball Team Fifth Time

LIVE IN WOODLAND HILLS, KRISTI, “CBS 2 NEWS”. WE HOPE EVERYONE IS SAFE. LOCAL LITTLE LEAGUE NEEDS HELP AFTER VANDALS TRASHED THE FACILITY AGAIN WITH LESLIE MARINO SHOWS US THE MAJOR DAMAGE THAT WAS LEFT BEHIND. SADLY, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE LITTLE LEAGUE FACILITY WAS BROKEN INTO AND IT HAPPENED ABOUT FIVE TIMES BUT THEY SAY THIS TIME THE VANDAL LEFT BEHIND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AND THEY WORRY THEY WON’T BE ABLE TO START THE SEASON ON TIME THEY TOOK OUR LOCKS OUT AND BANGED UP OUR DOOR WE HAVE ANOTHER DOOR AND THEY DID THE SAME THING. SADLY, THE VANDALS DID NOT STOP THERE. PICTURE SHOW GRAFFITI SCRAWLED ACROSS THE FLOOR WITH A GAPING HOLE BETWEEN THE WOMEN’S AND MEN’S BATHROOM. THIS IS THE MASS OF PLAYERS ON THE MARINA LITTLE LEAGUE FOUND AT THE FACILITY ON FRIDAY. THE DAY BEFORE THEY SAW HOMELESS PEOPLE AND THEY OTHER STUFF ONE OF OUR DUGOUTS. THEY PROCEEDED TO TAKE EVERYTHING OUT AND WE THREW IT AWAY. THE NEXT DAY WE CAME BACK AND WE NOTICED LITTLE LEAGUE COACHES HAVE REPORTED THE VANDALISM TO POLICE THAT THIS WILL NOT BE AN EASY OR CHEAP FIX FOR THEM. THE LEAGUE IS ESTIMATING ABOUT $7,000 IN DAMAGE AND THAT’S A LOT FOR A NONPROFIT THAT THE COACH IS MOSTLY LOW INCOME FAMILIES. IT HAPPENED TO HER SEASON BUDGET TO DO THE REPAIRS SO THAT OUR MAIN GOAL RIGHT NOW TO HAVE TO START THE SEASON. VOLUNTEERS CAME TOGETHER TO BOARD UP WALLS AND CLEAN WHAT THEY COULD BUT LITTLE LEAGUE STARTED A GOFUNDME PAGE. THEY ARE HOPING THE COMMUNITY WILL RALLY AROUND THEIR PLAYERS SO THEY CAN SIMPLY START THE SEASON ON TIME. ANYTHING IS APPRECIATED. MATERIAL, ANYTHING, WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT. ONE GOOD THING THE LITTLE LEAGUE SAYS THEY DID NOT LOSE ANY VALUABLE PLAYING EQUIPMENT BECAUSE THEY ARE ABLE TO STORE

  1. time for thicker steel screen on the doors. put it on in layers.. and much better locks. installing some kind of alarm system.. that has sirens and red/blue flashing strobes on the greased poles on top of the building. to prevent cutting the power to kill the alarm system. use a deep cycle battery. and a charger or hook the group 24 or 27 deep cycle battery to the battery wires from an uninterruptible power supply 350 watt versions are about 50 bucks at most office supply stores. car alarms can be used directly with the 12 volt battery and long term charger.. available at crazy low prices at various stores around 11th and central ave … the wholesale car electronics district..
putting one of the armored padlock shackles seen on the sides of work vans to prevent entry.. put one up high.. about 18" from the top of the door and one 18 inches from the bottom of the door..

  2. Disgusting! These are probably kids whose parents don’t give a toss and they aren’t involved in activities except being a sod on the streets.
