Cal Poly breaks ground on state-of-the-art beach volleyball complex

[Music] it’s been one of the most successful programs on campus the past two years in now Cal Poly beach volleyball will be getting a new home this upcoming season a state-of-the-art on-campus beach volleyball complex is under construction right outside of mod ethics Center and Anderson Aquatic Center the Mustangs new stable will be 35,000 square feet and will feature five NCAA regulation beach courts seating for up to 250 spectators lights an outdoor shower and an LED video scoreboard which will be perched on the south side of Mott the three million dollar donor funded project is scheduled to be ready by October of this year Cal Poly athletic director Don over Helmand says the new facility will not only be great for the team but the Cal Poly fans as well so we really wanted a venue on campus where they could get their daily work in but also be able to host some events and in particular duels and maybe some smaller tournaments right here on campus so we can get more student support more of the Cal Poly community coming out and supporting women’s beach volleyball over helman added that the program’s original home at Pismo Beach will continue to be used in the future for duels and Big West tournaments the Mustangs are the reigning Big West Conference champions
