Baseball vs College of Dupage and Joliet Junior College – ‘Home Game Heroes’

Hey it’s Noah, your host of ‘Home Game Heroes’,
and welcome to this week in Baseball “SSC style”. Coach Ru’s Baseball team is heating up just
at the right time, having won seven in a row, including Wednesday’s 2-1 thriller over College
of Dupage, and yesterday’s 10-3 victory over Joliet. In Wednesday’s contest versus the Chapparrals,
SSC pitcher Colin Walton tossed a gem, only giving up one hit in the first six innings. In the bottom of the third, the Bulldogs got
a lead off walk from shortstop Dashon Moore, Colin Kelly sacrifice bunted him to 2nd, and
then second basemen Ray Hansen belted a two run homer over the left field fence. Walton let the defense do the work by getting
easy outs until Carlos Flores came on in the ninth earning his sixth save of the season,
pitching a 1-2-3 inning. With 11 strikeouts, giving up only 3 hits
and a run, pitcher Colin Walton is our ‘Home Game Hero’. On a much warmer day Thursday against Joliet,
the Bulldogs led 3 to 1 after two innings, thanks to a couple of RBI singles and a sacrifice
fly. It was the bottom of the third when the offense
broke out, nine Bulldogs stepped to the plate, and thanks to 3 walks, they scored four runs,
the real blow was Christian Pearl’s two run homer to left center. Joliet didn’t score again until the seventh. The final score was 10-3. SSC starting pitcher Daniel Cryan settled
down after a rough first inning but got out of a bases loaded jam, getting the Wolves
to ground into a double play to end the inning. The offense scored two more runs in the 6th
and 1 in the 8th, while Carlos Flores struck out Joliet’s last batter looking, with the
bases loaded in the 9th. With five hits on the day, including a two
run home run in the 3rd, Christian Pearl is our ‘Home Game Hero’. South Suburban is now 27-16-1 on the season. The Bulldogs still have four more home games
left so come out and watch some Bulldog baseball. For ‘Home Game Heroes’ I am Noah and we will
see you next time!.
