Well, he tried his best. And Korea is extremely
proud of him for his efforts in these games and previous Asian and Olympic Games. Let′s
hope he wins some more medals in those upcoming races.
Now moving on to baseball… Team Korea is scheduled to play its second game tonight,
this time facing off against Chinese Taipai…. Hard to tell at this point with the rain forecast
until later this evening across the nation. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start,
but with the Korean peninsula under the influence of Typhoon Fung Wong,… there is a chance
the game may be called even before the first pitch.
If tonight′s game against Chinese Taipai is postponed,… it will be held on Friday
– a day before the semifinals. That would mean the Korean baseball team would
have to play games on four consecutive days without a day of rest in between.
That would put pressure on Manager Ryu Joong-il to shuffle his starters so they don′t tire
out. They have another match against Hong Kong
on Thursday… and the final is set for Sunday. And what happens to other outdoor events when
it rains like this? The organizing committee did announce its
plans before the rain. Sports like football, beach volleyball, archery
and hockey will go as planned… unless the conditions like lightning or heavy rain pose
a hazard to the athletes. On the other hand, cycling races cannot proceed
as the velodrum, which does not have a roof,… would prove too dangerous in the rain.
So, we could see these events being postponed depending on the weather… Let′s see how
things turn out this evening. Thank you for the updates.
