A Football League of Their Own

(upbeat music) – [Sam] Girls are just as
good as boys in anything. We know how to hit, we know how to run, and we can definitely play football. (girls chanting) – Go, go, go, go. – So, when I heard boys chanting, ‘Beat that girl, beat that girl.’ All it made me want to do
was beat them even better. (girls chanting) (upbeat music) – I’m Sam Gordon, I’m 14 years old, and I started the first
female tackle football league. I’ve been playing with the boys
since I was nine years old. In my very first season
I scored 35 touchdowns, about like 1900 yards. Sometimes after I beat them the parents would come out onto the field and grab their son’s
face mask and be like, ‘Don’t let a girl beat you.’ I wanted to start the girls
tackle football league after talking at a school assembly and asking the question, ‘How many girls here would
want to play tackle football?’ Almost every hand in the room went up. So, I got the idea, like, okay, if there’s this many at this one school, imagine how many there are in Utah, or just in the nation. So, I talked to my dad and he
talked with some other people. After a while we had the first season of the Utah Girls Tackle
Football League up and running. (whistle blowing) (man shouting) – Football is the last
frontier in girls sports. And if you think about it, girls can play on girls
teams in every sport that you can think of, except for the country’s
most popular sport. (people shouting) (whistle blowing) We limited participation to 50 girls, those spots filled up in less than a week. The following year we had a hundred girls, and then this season we’ve had over 200 girls who are playing. (people shouting) – [Sam] Every year we keep getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger. (girls chanting) It would be amazing for it
to go into high schools, colleges, and even its
own professional league. And that’s going to be
a tough goal to reach, but I am really ambitious, and
I feel like we could do it. With the girls, you could tell that everybody really wants to be there. And so, everybody is just super into it and always willing to learn. (upbeat music) And with the girls every
practice is just an awesome time. (upbeat music)

  1. It is statisticly proven that girls has much less body mass and muscle mass than the boys and its meant to be that way, boys get lots of muscel and bigger bodies to do for example jobs that girls cant do like lift heavy stuff or work construction, its meant to be that way, never have i heard i guy say "I want a girl who is bigger and stronger than me" girls say that.

  2. She said that girls are as good at boys at everything, that is false. In soccer, the world's most popular sport, the USA womens national team, who have won 4 womens world cups, lost to an u15 boys team from Dallas.

  4. Hey I live with 6 brothers and we play foot ball all the time and they have tackled me before and they are much bigger than me after a while you’ll get used to it ??

  5. What are you gonna do when a 7foot7 defensive tackle slams into you ya girls are just as good as boys at anything I think not

  6. This girl is homophobic as shit I can't wait to see her get knocked out then she'll now why girls or women can't play football

  7. I was raised to never hit a girl. One day at a scrimmage the other team had a girl on there team, she got to run the ball on a play, my friend hit her very hard and drilled her into the ground, she got hurt and her parents came out and started yelling at my friend and my coaches, eventually the scrimmage got called off. But 2 to 3 weeks later we found out that the girl had a sprained wrist. The parents were so mad, they complained to my district to not let my friend play. Unfortunately the girls parents got there way, and my friend was out of the league for the rest of the year. All I will say is if you are a girl and you want to play football with the boys you better be physically tough, mentally tough, and a team leader. Be prepared to take a hard hit, not a hit that stings for 30 seconds, a hit that makes you say "why am I doing this". Like I said I was raised to never hit a girl but if they want to be hit and they want to show people what a girl can do. You bet your ass I'm gonna show her what football is all about.

  8. Girl: "girls can do anything as well as a boy can do!"
    Boy: *tackles girls hard*
Girl: OW WTF you dont hit a girl like that

  9. You see girls having there own league is weird because they want to show there better than boys so why would you want your own league in college, national, etc wouldn’t you want to prove you can play at the same level as boys?

  10. Boys/men are much stronger in terms of strength, muscle and speed. Men have stronger muscles in their legs and arms. Small chance a team full of 14 y/o girls will beat a team full of 14 y/o boys. Statistics and science doesn't lie. Sorry triggered feminists.

  11. I love how she said girls are just as good at boys but in track boys majority of the time have better scores and in the the majority of sports but some Tims there is always and outstanding girl athlete but majority of the time guy athletes are always a little bit more talented at certain sports

  12. I’m all for equality but girls simply can’t Be as athletic as guys because of there biology if male team played a female team the would probably get wrecked

  13. 0:04
    Um wrong. Women's world record 1 mile. 4:12.33. men's record 3:43
    100 meters 10.49
    Men's 9.58
    Women's marathon 2:15:25
    Men's 2:01:39.
Men are stronger and faster sorry to hurt ur ego

  14. If you wanna play football with boy in JH and HS? Why not play with the boys grow and get stronger more naturally than boys

  15. Until highschool it’s fair once u hit there boys are just dominant and we kill wait for one of us to hit u you wouldn’t get up

  16. Why’s everything being so butthurt that there is a girls nfl team ? obviously it’s going to be different than boys physically but it’s still the same game. Just be happy for once that girls are getting the opportunity to do more

    And yes I’m expecting hate

  17. Think they can run, hit and tackle? See them versus a boys team and I have a feeling they will change their minds real fast.
